What if Ironman never became a hero?

What if the Merchant of Death came back out of that cave in Afghanistan?

Well, Tony would have never given away that he was, in fact, Ironman, obviously. Pepper and Rhodey were the only ones who knew, and who also knew he wasn't all that bad. After Tony learned how his weapons could, and were being used, he set on a mission to destroy them all. He had never actually killed someone, so his title wasn't really fitting, but the news liked it along with Ironman. He had hurt people, though. Mostly bad people, criminals dealing illegally with his weapons and more, but everyone on the outside, such as the news, thought they were just regular civilians.

When a new superhero team, who also destroyed Loki's army apparently, named the Avengers started coming after him, Tony was nervous. They destroyed a whole alien army, after all. But he had been worrying for nothing; they kinda sucked. They were uncoordinated and messy. Strong and full of potential, but clumsy. Tony knew they'd never get him.

He also thought that their newest recruit, a student (?) in a red and blue suit named Spiderman, would never beat him. Never would Tony have thought he would begin to feel paternal over a vigilante that he was supposed to be enemies with.

Peter was swinging over Queens when he heard the sound of blasters that Captain Rogers had warned him for. He remembered what the hero had told him.

'When you hear or see Ironman, you go after him. It doesn't matter if we're there or not, you go get him. Got it?' Peter had nodded confidently, not expecting to be running into the villain so soon. He had only become a vigilante/hero 4 months ago, and only became a sort of Avenger 2 months ago. They had basically forced him, but Peter didn't mind all that much. Steve could be a bit... harsh, to say the least, but they did give him a better suit, not the best, but a huge upgrade from his first one, so Peter was thankful.

But now he had to go after a super villain that even the Avengers couldn't beat. Woops. He hadn't even seen the villain in real life before, he wasn't prepared at all and his hands were already trembling. He tried to shake the nerves off, taking a deep breath and beginning to swing toward the noise.

It was quite far away, in a neighborhood hidden somewhere in New York. As Peter arrived, he immediately spotted Ironman. He was shooting his blasters (which were so cool in Peter's opinion) at some old warehouse. Peter already knew what was in the warehouse; Stark Industries weapons. Or well, he assumed, because Ironman only went after Stark Industries products for some reason.

Taking a deep breath to try and calm his nerves, Peter swung into the scene, beginning with a surprise attack and to his surprise, managing to land a hard kick on Ironman's chest. There was even a small dent in the armor, Peter noted with pride.

His pride was quickly forgotten as Ironman turned to look at him with a glare. "Uh. Hi!" Peter yelled, swinging to the left so that he could land on the warehouse, where he immediately had to dodge multiple blasts using his spidey senses. Ironman seemed confused at his reflexes, tilting his head slightly as he upped the force on his blasters. "Woah, calm down man!" Peter yelled at the sudden aggressiveness from the blasts. Ironman stayed silent.

Peter decided that the blasts were only damaging the building more and he quickly swung away. Ironman didn't seem phased by his fast movement though, his robotic head following Peter effortlessly, continuing to shoot as if fascinated. Peter groaned at his failed attempt to land another kick and began swinging closer instead of around the villain, shooting a web at the villain's head.

This seemed to really irritate Ironman. As he ripped off the webbing and glared at Peter, the suit lunged forward, blasters in his boots and on his back helping him fly with such speed even Peter couldn't dodge. Ironman collided with him with such force Peter could feel his ribs crack before a hand grabbed Peter's arm with a steel grip as they both began to fly up, Peter being dragged by Ironman.
