Drunken Souls

Kadambor palace,
At the same time,

" Please sit down,everyone" ordered Karikalan.

" No adhitare we would prefer to stand" replied a King.

" So let's start the meeting then" anounced Karikalan.

As soon as everyone gathered, karikalan sat on the steps, near to where Goddess Kotravai was placed...

Everyone gulped and kept looking at him. Karikalan frowned, " What happen, why are you all silent?" Asked Karikalan.

" Nothing Ilavarase..... We just wanted to request you something " started Sambuvarayar.

Karikalan crooked his eyebrows and asked," You told me that it was a meeting about tax ,if I am not wrong."

" It was a just a reason we gave you to get your attention to talk with you" informed Sambuvarayar.

Karikalan sighed" ok, what is your request?"

All the chief tenants looked at each other and started whispering.

Sambuvarayar shushed everyone and started, " Ilavarase, We think it will be fair to give the Chola Nandu to Madhuranthakar"

Karikalan was shocked at his words. His eyes widened. He glared at everyone.

They kept looking at Sambuvarayar as they couldn't meet his glare.

He composed himself and sighed, got up from the place, and went towards Sambuvarayar.

He started circling Sambuvarayar, " Three years ago, my father made me the crown prince of the Chola empire." then he walked around the chief tenants.

"And all of you agreed to it? " Karikalan asked , everyone stayed silent and , "Did you all agree or not?" stressed Karikalan .

" But now you are asking me to hand over the rule to Madhuranthakan." Karikalan asked as he returned back to Sambuvarayar.

" Kadamboor uncle, is this fair? Karikalan questioned with a mocking smiling.

" Is it wrong if I deny it ?" Asked Karikalan.

Sambuvarayar gulped," It cannot be said that Madhurandhagar has no rights over the throne" replied Sambuvarayar. Karikalan hummed.

"Arase, Our Kingdom extends from Kanyakumari to Krishna river, It would be fair if, we divide, the region from South of Kollidam River and give to Madhuranthakan and the north of that for you." Suggested the Kadambor King.

Karikalan scanned him from head to toe and looked into his eyes. "It will be fair if it is divided, hmm?" told Karikalan.

" It will be fair if we divide?" Repeated Karikalan to another king.

" It will be fair if we divide the Chola kingdom?" Karikalan questioned Kandhamaran.

He turned to another king,"It will be fare if we divide the kingdom." He repeated to kudambalore vellar.

He looked at everyone and repeated once again" It would he fare if we divide the kingdom.?"

" We should divide the Chola Kingdom, isn't it? he paused and exhaled." You are asking me to cut my mother's chest and take it!?" Shouted Karikalan.

" Ilavarase!" Whispered a kandamaran.
" Or else, or else, are you asking me to share my wife with him!? questioned Karikalan in rage.

" You old men might agree for this , but I won't agree with this."Just as he finished his words, Sambuvarayar tried to draw his sword out in anger.
