A Betrayal

Entrance,

Nandhini took a step back at the sight, Karikalan was holding the hand of another woman who seemed to be a couple of years younger than her.

"Nandhini" karikalan whispered after seeing his wife.

Karikalan was in shock to see Nandhini's state. His eyes pleaded Nandhini for forgiveness.

Tears started to gather in Nandhini's eyes. As she ran to the room.

Urvashi who was watching this scenario unfold, sobbed seeing her sister.

" Akka, don't run." Shouted Urvashi as she followed Nandhini.

Nandhini started to throw the pillows, lamps and every other thing in the room.

" How can he do this to me, Urvashi!? wept Nandhini as she sat down leaning against the wall.

Urvashi wiped her tears, " I am so sorry akka."

"If he hadn't done that, I would have accepted him." Told Nandhini in a devastated voice after crying for a few minutes.

" Akka please don't cry, it is not good for the baby." Told Urvashi.

Silent tears slipped from her eyes.

" Appa, she is Manimeghalai, Sambuvarayar's daughter. " Introduced Karikalan.

Sundar cholar Nodded and asked him to come inside, he signalled the guards to close the door.

" karikala I want with you." Told Sundar Cholar.

Karikalan nodded and gestured to the maid to take Manimeghalai to a guest chamber.

" Tell me, Father, what did you want to talk about?" Asked Karikalan.

" DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE?"roared Sundar Cholar.

Karikalan flinched at his father's voice.

" Father listen to me, I have a reason behind this." Karikalan tried to explain.

"What reason! Do you even know how much she had suffered, how much pain you had caused to her!?" Shouted Sundar cholar.

Sundar Cholar tried to calm himself down, but couldn't.

" Father hear me out for a minute, please requested Karikalan." Requested karikalan.

" What will you explain? You have done enough to her, if you can't take care of her, then just leave her. It is good for both of you." Told Sundar Cholar.

" I DID NOT MARRY MANIMEGHALAI!" Exclaimed Karikalan.

" Why do you care about my wife more than me !?" Questioned Karikalan.

" Because she is my-"paused Sundar Cholar.

" She is your what ?" Questioned Karikalan crooking his eyebrows.

Sundar cholar remained silent.

" If you didn't marry her, then why would you bring her here?" Questioned Sundar Cholar.

Karikalan sighed and started Narrating.

Back on the battlefield,

" My family is more important than the crown." Told Sambuvarayar.

" What do you want me to promise?" Asked Karikalan to Sambuvarayar who was in his deathbed.

" You have to promise to take care of my daughter forever, please don't say no, karikala" pleaded Sambuvarayar.
