You wake up to your phone ringing loudly. You groaned, trying to block it out, but the noise only made your headache worse after last night.

You usually don't drink, but you had a typical argument with your sister that really upset you. To cope, you joined your friends at a party where you ended up losing some control.

However, you do have an addiction to cigarettes...

You tried to ignore the phone but it was really starting to tick you off so you lazily reach over to your nightstand and looked to see who's calling, it was riley your best friend since elementary school.

"what?" you answered.

You immediately snap awake when muffled cries are heard through the phone. "Riley what the fuck happened? Are you okay?!! Please don't tell me it's Ava again."

Ava is Riley's girlfriend. She's toxic, manipulative, and crazy. She made Riley ghost me and our other best friend Aslan countless times. Ava has threatened her, controlled her, and quite literally went to her house when she wouldn't answer her phone all because Riley took a nap. She accused her of cheating that day.

"Yn, it's over," her voice breaking. "I finally ended things with Ava." you can hear the relief and exhaustion in her voice. It must have been hard for her to make this decision.

After all, no matter how cruel a person can be, it's extremely hard to let go of someone you love.

"Oh my god Riley, I'm so sorry. I know it's hard but I'm so proud of you. You deserve love so much better than what Ava had to give to you." you replied.

"I know, It's for the better, but it still hurts so bad yn. It doesn't feel real."

"Riley my dear, of course it doesn't. You can't just get over someone in a day. Acceptance is hard but remember it's important as well. Acceptance helps you grieve, it helps you heal, and it helps you stand on your two feet again. You'll be okay, I promise. And you know damn well I never go back on my promises."

You hear her sadly laugh through the phone, "yeah i know, i can always count on you when you promise something."

"Now I need you to be the hot bitch that you are, make sure to dress up absolutely stunning for tonight. You, me and Aslan are literally going to make everyone's asses explode at the concert tonight." you said hoping it'll make her feel better.

She giggled, "Thanks, YN, I love you. I'm going to call Aslan and let him know the witch is gone."

"Okay, see you tonight. Mwah."

After Riley hung up, your heart ached for her. You stared at your phone for a moment, feeling a knot tighten in your stomach as you thought about her pain. You pushed yourself out of bed, struggling against the fatigue clinging to your limbs.

As you shuffled toward the bathroom, your head throbbed insistently. You braced yourself against the doorframe, trying to gather your thoughts.

When you finally looked in the mirror, you barely recognized yourself. Your face was puffy, eyes red-rimmed and glazed, and your hair was a tangled mess that framed your face like a wild halo. Dark circles under your eyes seemed to deepen as you caught a glimpse of the reflection.
