Your new favorite author here,Hi,guys. So, just wanted to let you know this is my first time writing. I have a wide vocabulary and have lots of experience with lots of people and their mannerisms. Based on the points of view, the words I use will vary to match the persons character and the way he or she thinks. The point of view we are starting out with is a little on the simpler side. This book will also be mature. This is your only warning,so if you are sensitive to horror/thriller scenes, you may want to proceed with caution or not at all. So don't judge, and enjoy the first chapter!
Rapped in a green, fuzzy blanket, I arched my back to stretch. Why buy a bed when you inevitably will sleep the entire night on the couch. From being in one position, my stiff muscles waited until I was awake to complain; seeing no use in complaining beforehand. The tv still had the " are you still watching" notice; and my cat was still asleep on the round, living room carpet. Checking my phone, I woke up thirty minutes earlier than usual. I take this time to just enjoy the vibe in the room. The sun shining through the large apartment window, the dust particles and random cat hair floating in the air , and the warm soft blanket I was burritoed in; The heater was keeping the room a warm temperature making me forget it was frosty outside. Waking up in a good mood, I decided to make a special breakfast for myself. Hesitantly escaping the inviting blankie, I trudge to the kitchen that is connected with the living room. My cute plaid, green jamie-pants and black, long-sleeve turtle neck top kept me feeling cozy; so I didn't have the urge to run back to the comfort of the leather couch.
The tiled kitchen floor shocked my small feet with its cold surface. I hopped onto the black marble counter to reach the top cabinet where the bisquick was stashed. Deciding that today seemed like a waffle morning, I put the ingredients in the blender and pulsed it a few times to mix it all thoroughly. Jumping off the counter, I start to search the small kitchen for the waffle iron; wherever it ran off to hide. After finding it camouflaged behind all the pots, I plug it in and pour in some batter. When the batter ran out, I was left with a stack of golden fluffy waffles. Smothering jelly and peanut butter on every piece, I began eating my yummy breakfast. My cat, Kiki, finally awoke from her elegant slumper and softly walked over to greet me.
" Hey, Kiki Meow. You sleep good, hm?" I say as I pick her up and smoosh my face in her long fur. She purs her response and stares at me expectantly. Knowing she wants her breakfast, I place my empty plate in the sink, and retrieve her tuna from the fridge. She starts meowing for me to hurry up as I wash her food and water bowls and fill them with tuna and milk. She's my princess; It's been just me and her since the beginning: my forever friend and family.
My phone alarm rings so I know my first college class of today starts in two hours, and I need to look presentable. Leaving Kiki to eat her meal, I walk slowly to the bathroom ,holding my food baby. Turning the shower knobs to a soothing temperature, I brush my teeth while the water warms. Stripping out of my jamies, I step into the hot water, and let it relax my sore stiff muscles. My cream colored skin on my face thankfully remained clear except for little brown freckles decorating my nose and matching my milk chocolate eyes. I start to shampoo my scalp and the blonde and brown hair that reaches to the middle of my lower back. My layered hair becomes a darker shade of brown as it retains the flowing water. After shaving and scrubing my body, I rinse off and step out onto a white fluffy bath mat.
Looking through my closet for my dark, teal, sweater-dress and pair it with my favorite white high boots. I leave my damp hair down to dry and add some cute pearl earrings. After applying my makeup, I walk to the living room as the heel of my boot hits the dark wood floor. My keys, phone, and wallet were placed in my purse as I walked to the door after I baid Kiki goodbye.
The cold November air hit me in the face and nipped at my bare legs. The frosty stairs threatened to ruin my morning if I was not careful; and the thin layer of snow disguised my little black car. Getting in, I turned on the car and heat came pouring out of the vents. I want to trade it in, but this is the first car I bought myself. The driver's seat belt gets stuck so you have to bang on it a few times; the back up camera is blurry because ice always freezes the sensor; and the glove compartment always opens so easily, just the railroad tracks seem to trigger it. But I can't seem to part with it. Since I only have three more years of college maybe, Ill trade it in after.
I pull out of the parking lot and turn the radio to my favorite pop station. Driving down the two lane road surrounded by forest and pop songs with no one on the road, just brings a toothy smile to my face. The simple things in life are the things that make me happy, no stress, no drama, just peace, finally peace. The beginning of my life wasn't ideal, but now I have a choice. A choice to be happy and do the things that make me happy. I suppose happiness is not in circumstances, but a constant mental decision; but I didn't know that back then. I can only learn from the past and apply the lesson to the future. I am happy now. I have a job with amazing co-workers, my cat, and an apartment I can afford. I'm in college, studying to get my Bachelors since I want to be an Elementary teacher. I love kids; their innocence and their tendencies to overreact always keep life light and enjoyable. I know most kids are unkind and selfish, but it's because they are not taught anything different. I want to be that one teacher we all remember that cared about us when all the others gave two shits. I want my classroom to be a safe space and healthy learning environment. I want to be that teacher that gives out starbursts and snickers for right answers and to be the teacher that listens to both sides of the argument before jumping to conclusions. Most of all I want to instill self esteem and courage into each of my students; something that was once instilled in me by my teacher.
I finally reached the edge of my small town called Prowler Village. It sounds scary, the Prowler; but its just to scare the little kids for stories, and to keep newcomers at bay. I probably would have not chosen to live here either, but the feel of the town drew me in. The faerie lights in the park, the small coffee shops, the friendly people, and the elementary school are so perfect. The school is made out of stone and wood to recreate its historical essence. The whole town has a wood and stone style and it's surrounded by thick forests, just my type of homie vibes. Turning a corner, I see my destination. Coffee is my number one priority, and I come to this coffee shop daily. I'm spoiled, I know; but I can never recreate it, and other coffee doesn't compare. It's so good, plus ,because I come everyday; I get a 50% discount which is fabulous if you ask me. After pulling into a parking space, struggling with my seatbelt, and grabbing my purse, I exit the car. Since the ice was still frozen on the sidewalk, it only took a few steps before I fell on my butt, and my coins and phone escaped my purse to scatter on the ground.
"Well, if it isn't my little doe-eyed fighter. I would be rich if I had a dollar for every time you fell." I hear an elderly lady say from the door of the shop.
"Hi, Granny. It's a little slipper out today." I respond with a grin and a small laugh. She lets out one of those original sweet old lady laughs.
"I suppose it is, dear. Come inside and get your coffee. Your class starts in forty-five minutes. You wouldn't want to be late, would you?''She says before reaching down and picking up my phone that had slid to her feet.
"Thanks. I could use a cup of hot coffee." I giggle as I pick up my money and accept my phone from her bony hands. We walk up to the glass door with a metal bell that chimes whenever we enter. I closed the door behind us and took a seat on the stool that was at the counter.
" Can I have marshmallows in my moca, today? I'm feeling the urge to splurge." I ask with the cutest face I can muster.
"Of course you can, honey." She says as she pulls the marshmallows from under the counter and puts a handful in my moca.
" So... how's school going? Are the kids nice to you? Are you making any friends?' She pries while placing my cup in front of me.
"Granny. You know I don't have any friends." I say while holding the cup with both hands as I feel the heat radiate through my palms. I sigh and look down into my coffee realizing how pitiful it sounds.
" Well there is no reason to sulk; when you go to school today, sit next to someone who looks friendly. The key is to introduce yourself. Don't just sit there like a lump on a pickle." She half scolds and half encourages. I nod my head and think over the possibilities.
" When I was young, that's how it was done. I can guarantee it still works. Try it today and when you come back tomorrow, then tell me how right I was." She laughs after she finishes talking to lighten the mood; and I can't help but join her.
" I will." I say with a determined look on my face. Smiling, she makes life sound so simple. Maybe, she's right. Maybe, I'm the one complicating things. I'm gonna give it a try; she is a very wise lady.
" Alright, you had better get a move on it. You have thirty minutes left." Her words make me jump off the chair and run to the door; but I stop abruptly, almost running into the door. I start to open my purse but she stops me before I can open my wallet.
" You can pay me tomorrow, doe- eyes." She says. I thank her and open the door to start to sprint to my car, but the voice stops me just in time.
" Walk; don't run. Its icy." I instantly heed her words, and walked to my car. Before opening my car door, I turn around and wave to her, one of those big, dramatic, embarrassing waves that a five-year-old does when he's getting on the bus. I could care less though, because A. I'm in a hurry and B. she is the sweetest elderly lady I have ever met, and she deserves it. I see her eyes light up and a smile instantly appears on her face.
Getting in, I drive out of the parking lot, and down main street. Turning at the sign, I arrived on campus. People are walking on the sidewalks, cars are littering the parking lot, and the baseball field has a few clumps of people practicing together. Finding a spot, far away from my building, signifies a lull in my daily luck, but nevertheless, I have plenty of time to walk to class. I turn my car off and try to unbuckle the seatbelt, but it wouldn't budge. After about two minutes of struggling, I stop to take a deep breath. There is no need to get worked up and start crying over a seatbelt. A few breaths later, I can think clearly again. Shimmying out of the seat belt and falling face first into the passenger's seat, I finally get free of its revengeful grasp. Finding my backpack in the backseat, I haul it to the front and get out the passenger door. I will have to deal with that later. If I didn't know any better, I would think it did it on purpose, but like always common sense buts its head in the conversion to remind me that it is an inanimate object.Ok, so, hope y'all enjoyed that. I wasn't sure when to stop, cause I could go on for days, lol😉 Let me know how the experience was. Were you engrossed? Or not so mush? And which parts were monotonous or not comfortable to read. Hope to hear from each and everyone of you.
