Floors tainted with an auburn wooden color were painted throughout the library. It fitted the golden september season that was projected right outside the huge window where nearby there was a small, black haired girl all sleepy and tired from her exam week that she's been studying days for.
Her name was Kim Jisoo. 17 years old and quite a peculiar character. She had wispy bangs that covered a bit of her face and long hair that went a few inches below her shoulder. Her fair skin seemed even more radiated when the light from the cozy sun reflected across the room. And her thin, yet plump lips, and naturally reddened cheekbones were considered an underrated beauty.
She was rather skinny, not having much of an appetite most of the time, and although to many she was beautiful, she didn't see herself the same way. She wore big glasses that hid her double eyelids, and brown eyeshadow she'd usually put on to just feel good about herself.
The young girl was wearing a long skirt that flowed to her ankles and a white shirt she had tucked. Her arms were wrapped around her head to rest from overwhelming exhaustion. Papers ruffled, and messy handwritten notes were disorganized on the desk she sat on. It was unlike her to leave such a mess, and when people saw this unlikelihood, they snickered as the presumed smarty pants looked like she was giving up right before exams.
"Hey."
A little voice whispered closely to her ear and grew louder once Jisoo didn't respond the first time around.
"Jisoo!! Wake up dummy!"
The slim figure suddenly bonked a hardened book on her head which made Jisoo jolt up in pain, rubbing on her temporary bump.
"Lin?" Jisoo was confused, not really processing everything that just happened, but then quickly realized her improper mannerisms,"What are you doing here Lin?"
Benni Lin, a half German and half Korean student, and Jisoo's childhood bestfriend.
They've have been inseperable since the day they could ever begin to remember, and everywhere that Lin went, Jisoo came. The opposite didn't really happen. It was one of those friendships where one is more of the talker and leader whilst the other's more of a listener and a follower.
Lin's always the one who decides for the both of them, and Jisoo never complained, and never said anything about it. It was something she got used to, so she never really got to think for herself.
Unlike Jisoo, she had light brunette hair. Today, she wore a thin ponytail on each side, and her outfit consisted of ragged shorty shorts and a tanktop. She had just found Jisoo in the library, a little passed out.
"I wanted to tell you that Jeong invited me to one of his parties coming up this weekend!" Lin waved her hands all excited, making her german accent apparent in Korean.
"Do I really have to go though? I still have to review on a bunch of things. My history exam is next monday." Jisoo shrugged her shoulders, looking back at all the papers in front of her.
Lin insisted in a whiny voice,"You have to go! It'll be 10 times better knowing that you're there with me! Please!!"
She put both her hands together and pleaded to the darker haired girl.
Jisoo didn't show her annoyance or disappointment to Lin. She knew she didn't have much of a choice, but to agree either way, so she shyly nodded.
Lin's eyes lit up and she winked,"Be ready whenever!"
The sun was about to go down even more and the young girl peeked at her phone— 6:34. Other than the bold text numbers, no notifications, no texts, no anything social media wise ever popped up. She thought of apps like instagram or snapchat unnecessary, and only had signed up for most of it because Lin begged her to follow her on several accounts.
She rubbed her eyes and knew it was probably time to go home. It would be dangerous for me to stay here later, She thought as she packed up her pink spiraled notebook filled with tiny doodles she'd do whenever she was bored in class and shortened summaries of multiple lectures. Her pencil case was pink too, and had a cute sanrio character on it. The character was a white bunny that had a pink hood that covered her whole head, and a daisy near the top left side. The case solely showed the characters face and shoulders.
Sanrio was her favorite franchise. She liked cute things, collected them. She chuckled, putting everything in her backpack, and grabbed on a pair of earbuds from her skirt's back pocket.
"This that pink venom, this that pink venom~" She closed her eyes and hummed to the music. By this time, she was already making her way home. The auburn leaves were mounted on the branches of orange and reddish trees in different shapes.
Cold air hit her skin and she shuddered in response.
Quiet. She felt misplaced today like a book put in the wrong section, the wrong category... the wrong shelf. There was a place that no one had ever known except her, and instead of going straight home, she arrived at a hillstop where a ginormous maple tree hovered over a small bed of daisies.
There you could see mother natures beautiful creation, according to Jisoo's opinion. Clumps of daisies were spreaded out upon the grassy field where the suns warm light hit. It was the best place to watch the sunset, and the best place to receive actual silence. She stopped playing her music, and took in the beauty around her.
Birds chirped in the distance. Squirrels knawed heavily on their acorns. Wind breezed through. Another girl sitting atop one of the large branches.
She was not that high up, but high enough to have a better view of the field. She did not see Jisoo who was kinda behind her, and below the branch she sat on. She had headphones on, obviously not aware of her surroundings, and was reading, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a book by Stephen Chbosky. It followed an introverted main character who always watched everyone from the sidelines and gradually learned about self love and hope for their own future.
(A bit familiar?)
Jisoo found it interesting once she noticed the title the other girl was reading, and did not want to make another sound except the slow rhythm of her breathing.
The girl had much longer black hair than Jisoo despite it being pulled in a loose bun. Her nose was flatter and pointier, fitted for Korean beauty standards, and had thin lips. She wore a soft pink lipstick, and cat eyeliner, accentuating the smooth curves of her eyes. Pretty, Jisoo thought. Her hair looked delicate with her fair face. It was almost like she was a princess, and her slender arms, and fingers moved effortlessly to one page to another.
Jisoo could barely even see her eyecolor, though figured out it was probably a dark brown like hers since everytime the girl turned a page she'd glance at the distant field.
The low rised jeans she wore traced her nice lower frame, and her medium lengthed long sleeve was perfect for the weather.
Jisoo didn't bother to trouble the mysterious girl's undying focus on her book, and decided it would probably be best to keep the silence around the place in tact. She opened up a book of her own, Eleanor and Park, by Rainbow Rowell, about the push and pull between a first love.
The two— one below, staying still with a romantical book in hand, and one up, minding their own business, entranced by the philosphical detail of her own story didn't mind to disturb the other.
The girl above knew the girl down below was there the whole time, however refused to give her the slightest hint of attention. She had a slight smile on the corners of her mouth when Jisoo seemed to be fascinated by her. Cute, she thought.
Both simply stayed there out the field of daisies, below the same large maple tree, enjoying each others unheard presence.
