Me and Dal walked to the diner, making sure to take the car wisely. I had some experience, but not nearly as much as Dal. I knew how to hotwire a car though, and because my hands were smaller and more delicate than Dal's, he made me do it.
When we finally stole the car, I made sure to have Dal go 'round to the lot just in case Johnny wanted to come along. But he wasn't there.
"That's odd. He's usually always here." I looked around the area just in case he was walking around.
"You think maybe he's home?" Dal asked. I shrugged, really unsure of where he could be.
"Could be anywhere. You wanna check?" Dal nodded. I knew he was worried, his words displayed it more than his face did though.
As we drove, I made sure to keep my eyes on the sidewalks and the area in general just in case.
We arrived at Johnny's house and heard his folks arguing. Typical. Me and Dal walked up to the door and knocked. We waited a long 20 seconds before Johnny answered the door.
"Oh, hey Jenn. Hey Dal. Y'all wanna go.... somewhere else..?" Me and Dal both nodded and closed the door behind Johnny.
"Folks arguing again?" I asked.
"Yeah. They started talking 'bout the gang. They think y'all are no good for me. Think you guys are the reason I'm no good." Johnny sat down on the sidewalk and sighed.
"Man, them's crazy." Dal sneered. I sat down next to Johnny and nudged his shoulder slightly.
"Cmon johnnycake. Let's go blow off some steam." I smiled at him, as we both hopped into the stolen car.
