There were police everywhere. Officers inspected the scene and interviewed witnesses, including Bernardo and Mauricio. Only after a long time they manage to get away from the police talking.
The men searched everywhere for Narin but couldn't find her.
"Still not answering?" Torres asked worriedly.
"No." The trader sighed. "I don't like it. She couldn't just disappear like that." He ran a hand through his hair.
The elder wanted to say something but stopped when he read the message. Moments later, he approached his younger companion.
"There wasn't supposed to be a delivery today." He said. "What kind of package did you send me?" He looked at the trader.
"Ah, this." Serrano glanced at him. "It's a gift from Narin." He said. "For her beloved guardian's birthday." He smiled faintly then sighed again. "Where are you, chinita?"
The men looked around the scene of the incident, until suddenly the trader's phone rang. The brunet was much surprised to see this number.
"Banou?" He answered the call, waiting for an answer from the other end. "Hellooo?" He called.
"You'll pay for what you did..." He heard the voice of a tearful girl. "You've already paid." She said which surprised him even more. "You lied to me all this time." She cried. "I was stupid and trusted you... But now, I fixed it... It was the only way I could hurt you the most."
"What the fuck are you talking about?" He asked, and his words caught Bernardo's attention.
But before the elder could approach the trader, he received another message. This time, from Narin.
"I'm sorry, papá"
Those were the only words Vazquez managed to write.
Torres frowned, and when he read the message carefully, he got scared and started calling his daughter again but got no answer. The realization made him even more nervous. What happened?
Vazquez never called him that. She always called him by his first name, or even more often by his diminutive. Bernardo dreamed of the day she would finally call him 'dad', but he didn't want it to be that moment. Not the moment of her death.
"Narin?" He heard Mauricio's voice and immediately ran to him.
Vazquez called Serrano but her condition wasn't the best.
"Chinita, are you there?" Brunet asked scared. "Answer me. Are you okay? Banou said..."
"Ah, yes ... that little fucking brat." He heard the voice of a barely alive mulatto, and it made him feel a little relieved. Bernardo too. "Pachuco... you know, I think I won't kill her for now. "
"It doesn't matter. Tell me where are you." He asked immediately. As soon as he heard the voice of his beloved, he realized how bad her state was. "Narin, where are you?"
Silence answered him.
Vazquez sat barely alive. She felt the cold engulf her, she was shivering. She no longer had the strength to get up. She decided to call the trader, because she knew that she might not have a chance to talk to him again.
"Narin..." Serrano said with tears in his eyes. "Where are you? I'll come for you."
"You'll come...?" She asked hopefully. "I really, really want to see you right now, pachuco." She said in a broken voice, and tears appeared in her eyes. "But I don't think I'll be able to see you again."
"Stop it." He interrupted her. "Tell me, where are you?"
Bernardo wanted to know what was going on but seeing Mauricio's reaction he knew the situation was serious. Not everything turned out the way they wanted.
