why lie?

Chapter one

I never understood why people lie. There's no need to omit the truth, a little white lie every now and again makes sense but not 24/7. Until I met her

I'm in the school play, and yeah they wanted me to go and do one of those god awful openings.

Anyway, to make you understand what's going on we're going to have to go back to march 1st 2022

I'd just joined my new school, St Michaels, I had to move from my last school because this bitch, Ainsley was spreading rumours about me, and I had to move from the one before that just because it was a real shit school and the one before that because I'd made a bad first impression and no one would shut up about it, so it's safe to say I'm used to first days. But this one had been quite interesting.

this boy called Silas Lawson was talking to me a lot- sorry not talking, more like flirting. Silas wasn't an insanely bad looking Donnie but he could do with some acne cream and a better haircut.

Anyway the most interesting part was this girl on my bus, she was pretty overweight with short black hair and ugly trousers and no makeup. As soon as I saw the poor girl I knew I needed to help her. I made it my mission to do so.

Me and Silas had gotten together on march 7th and broken up on march 20th, it turns out he wasn't over his ex, Eden, the girl I'd previously mentioned came and told me all this when we got on the bus the day we broke up. They were together for around five months, Eden is in the year above us and is best friends with her sister. Everyone hates Silas for what he did but no one seemed to mention it when we were getting together (not that it would have stopped me) Eden broke up with him and they were on good terms, he even broke his hand via punching a wall because he was so upset, bit dramatic but you know. Then he started spreading rumours about her and admitted he cheated on her. So...

not the best boyfriend in the world

On march 23rd she came over my house for the first time, it turns out she only lives a street away from me, just a walk through the park and up a short but steep hill and you can go from my house to hers, convenient.

Her name is Neave O'Donnell, she's not Irish but her grandfather was, you'd traditionally spell it 'Niamh' but people always pronounced it wrong so on everything other than legal documents she spells it Neave. She has 7 sisters, one of which she hates to the bone, her oldest sister and and the rest she's okay with 89% of the time (she's a bit confusing)

I have 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Neave has never met any of them other than Aaron and she'd never met him in person she's just texted him, same with my closest sister Tatum. Although she did see Aaron in McDonalds one time

Neave became my best friend in a matter of days, she came over my house every day after school, and we did everything together. After a few months It got to the point where if one wasn't in school everyone, including the teachers, would ask the other where we were, If we both missed the bus we'd either get a public bus together or my parents would take us, and If we had a school trip that ran over to after school my mum would pick us up. You get the gist of it.

Anyway let's skip to September 2022

Neave had had a huge ass glow up. She was wayyyyy skinnier, her hair was real grown out and framed her face well, she had a nice side profile, hadn't been wearing any sorts of trousers to school since half way through last school year anyway, only skirts and she didn't have a stupid bag and she always wore makeup to school.

She'd been grounded for all of summer and a month before because her dad got told she was smoking in school because some guy told the teachers she had been. So I hadn't seen her, she has been slowly getting prettier since I first met her but this summer proper gave her a nudge in the right direction

We walked into school and I no longer felt like I was walking around with a charity case, I'd done my job and I'd done it well. Dare I say she was nearly as pretty as me?

We go to our separate regestrations and I carry on with my day as per usual

"did you hear about Neave and Silas?" I hear someone say

"sorry, what?" I turn to the people behind me, I don't know their names

"hm?" the girl says

"one of you just said 'did you hear about Neave and Silas' what do you mean?"

"oh, yeah, nothing serious, it's just some people are saying he fancies her, and she said he was fit to Rhyah during summer without realising it was him. Ever since then he's been obsessed with her"

Rumour has it Rhyah and Silas shagged but that's never been confirmed so no one really knows

But okay its fine they haven't gotten together without telling me.
