"I thought you were dead!" Ellie sobbed into her dads shirt.

"I know, baby, I know," he said stroking her hair. They sat on the ground, Ellie was curled up in his lap like she used to do when she was little.

"How did you..." She started. Not knowing what to say.

"I had some help," he kissed the of her head.

"I missed you so much," she cried.

"Don't worry I'm not leaving again." He reassured her.

"You did what?" Ellie said in astonishment.

"He was out of control, something had to be done." Her dad told her.

"So you handcuffed him to the roof?" She laughed slightly, "don't you think you can drop the cop routine yet?"

No one laughed at her joke. Ellie wasn't surprised. The only thing that did surprise her was that her dad was alive and that he had handcuffed Merle Dixon to the roof of a department store.

Daryl wanted to go back to get his brother, and Ellie knew that her dad- being the nice guy he was- would go with him.

It was decided that her dad and Daryl, along with T-dog and Glenn, were going to get Merle.

"I'm coming too," Ellie stated.

"You most certainly are not!" Snapped her mother, "you just went hunting with him," she pointed at Daryl although he didn't notice it, "which you failed to mention to me about, and you come home with blood on you."

"It's not my blood!" Ellie growled at her.

"I don't care it is much too dangerous for you to go with them, ain't that right, Rick?" She asked her husband.

"It would only be in and out!" Ellie yelled at her mother.

"Listen, El," her dad said softly, "we barely got out last time, I think you have underestimated the amount of walkers in the city. As your mom said it is very dangerous."

"Bloody hell!" Ellie cried. "It ain't fair. I can protect myself as well as any of you!"

"She has a point," Andrea added, "you'll never know if you don't let her try."

Ellie gave her a weak smile. Andrea returned it.

"Even more reason why she should stay here," Shane pitched in, "we need protection here, with Rick taking some of the muscle that we need here, he is leaving us defenceless."

"How can you say that?" Ellie glared at him, "we have enough protection to last us a day. Ok!"

"You best stay out of this, let the grown-ups talk." Shane said in a levelled voice.

"Back off, Shane!" Ellie snapped.

"Ellie Louise Grimes, you are not going!" Her mother yelled finally.

"To hell I ain't!" Ellie told her again, "I don't want to sit here on my ass and feel useless when I could be helping dad! For God sake! We just got him back and he's leaving, can't you understand why I wanna go with him, you stupid slu-"

"Don't talk to your mother like that!" Rick told her. "Now, Ellie, I do understand why you want to come with us but its too dangerous at the moment and I'm sure your mother needs you here to help watch over Carl and the rest of the camp."

"Come on y'all wastin' time!" Daryl yelled from the background.

"I'm sorry, El," her dad said before turning around and getting in the truck with Glenn and T-dog. When they drove off Ellie kicked the ground angrily and swore at herself.
