- Gone was the sun, and gone was the light. The world became shrouded with darkness, and overthrown by unknown horrors. All known kingdoms were turned to rubble with none inhabiting them. Forcing all humanity seeking shelter in caves and underground caverns.
Before all went to hell, grand sorcerers came together and pulled the last remaining rays of sun in their hands, molding them into separate shards of light. They began to form a being out of that light, a being to protect those from the darkness, and they were known as the Fractured. The strong fractured were used as Calvary to many royalty, whilst the lesser fractures were given unto the lowly people. The only thing left is to survive, and hope all Fractured will reduce the darkness and bring light back once more.-
The princess sealed the bunker with rocks and boulders, putting mud within the cracks to ensure no light will seep through and alert any unwanted beings.
She panted, wiping her dirtied hand on her forehead to rid of the sweat. "Ye could've helped you know?" Her gaze turned towards her personal Fractured, that was bestowed upon her when the world became dark. His armored head turned to look at the tired lass, whose white gowns were turned to a stained mess.
"But, thou hath told me to start on the fire, did you not?" He questioned, turning his attention back onto the bonfire. Her eyes widened, "I guess I did, apologies, I was just having a hard time with those boulders, us ladies don't have as much muscle mass as ye lightened beings" she giggled.
"That's why I insisted on assisting with the blockade, but thou'rt stubborn." He sparked a flame that caused the wood to be set aflame. He sat next to it and awaited for the princess. It's only been a month since the darkness fell upon the land, all kings queens or any sort of royalty were forced to separate into small groups of two, a human and a Fractured to ensure safety. For bigger numbers were a ticket for death, or worse, mutation.
She strode towards him, her white gown trailing behind her, and sat by the fire. She sighed upon sitting, giving a big yawn. "If thou'rt tired, I insist ye sleep" he said, poking the fire wood with a long metal rod, stirring the embers.
She rested the side of her head on her palm, "what about you?" She asked. "Though thou hath known me not long, you should've gotten the idea by now that I need no sleep." He chuckled slightly. "But that was when we were still escaping the horrors, we're safe here in this bunker." She gawked at the golden armored man, the light of the fire reflecting upon him, outlining all the carefully crafted details that were etched within the metal shell.
"Like I hath said, I sleep not, I am not human as ye are, I will keep watch whilst ye rest." He calmly stated, glaring at the tired princess, who's red hair is knotted and unkept, riddled with dirt."Fine, I shall sleep." She laid down on her side, her arms creating a headrest. "Don't forget to pray, in the hopes this night will soon cease." She whispered before shutting her heavy lids. And though the fire gave some warmth, she still shook even with her reddened hood, with gold embroidery and thick white dress that drapes down to her feet.
The fractured remained at the bonfire, keeping an ear out for any strange beings that would lurk above them. His gaze turned towards the slumbering girl, though her body is heavily disheveled, she, for the first time in a week, looked at ease. A smile began to keep within his golden shell.
' Don't forget to pray, in the hopes the night will soon cease.' What she said echoed within his mind. Will it though? Will it ever cease? His smile disappeared as he pondered.
But to answer his own question.
It will not.The bonfire soon diminished after some long hours, alerting the princess due to the sudden chill that began through the air. "Good to see you up, princess, sleep well?" He asked, tilting his head.
"I wish you could light that thing once more." She mumbled. The fractured chuckled and got up from sitting, his armor clacking as he strode towards the lazy woman. "Well, I am sorry to say, but ye cannot have thine beauty sleep anymore, time is precious!" He grabbed the waist of the princess, and hoisted her up with ease."Oi! Get yer golden gauntlets off of me!" She squirmed to rid of his grasp, but ultimately failed. He finally let her go once he straightened her to her feet. Brushing the dirt off of her once white blouse, she looks towards the barricade they made the day before.
"Whilst thou assist me? This time?" She asked. The fractured made his way towards the wall where she stood. "With pleasure."They both began to topple the wall, while the princess chipped away at the hardened seal, the fractured removed the loosened rocks. With the last one down, the lass slumped.
"I really wish to not go back out, must we?" It almost sounded as if she was begging. Her ratted hair hung to her face, almost covering her gaze towards him. "As much as it pains me, we must, for your food supply is very low, and ye need a bath." He pointed at her. The princesses face scrunched into disgust, she crossed her arms and huffed. "Well." She tisked "you don't smell very pleasant either." Just as she was about to waltz out the bunker, the fractured stopped her. "Have you forgotten already? We are not to leave without a light source." She looked him through his metal visor and then at his hand that holds her.
"Oh, right." She whispered to herself. He lit a torch for himself and for the princess. "Keep it lit, and do let me know if the light dwindles." He firmly stated, handing the torch to her. She nodded, "Now remember your back is towards me, ready?" He asked. Before replying, she takes her free hand and lifts her red hood over her dirtied, pale face.
~"Ready."
