Jaywatcher flipped onto her back in her nest. It was silent in the warriors den, other than Newtspeckle's snoring.

Jaywatcher let out a sigh and looked back at the entrance of the den. It was nearly moon-high.

Getting up on her paws, Jaywatcher padded between the nests of sleeping cats and leaving the den.

Smokeflame was on guard duty, nodding at Jaywatcher as the blue-gray warrior padded past to the dirtplace tunnel.

Jaywatcher nodded back politely. She never knew what to say to her foster mother anymore, not since she moved into the apprentice's den moons ago.

She ducked through the dirtplace tunnel once more, her eyes gleaming as she padded silently through the forest.

Will Leafsight even bother going to Fourtrees?

Jaywatcher didn't dare think of it. She pushed past the bushes into the hollow where the Great Rock stood, but no Leafsight.

She peered around edges and corners, even behind the huge rock, but nothing. As Jaywatcher went to leave, a rustling sound hit her ears.

It was Leafsight, and Jaywatcher's heart lifted as she saw Leafsight's pale brown and white pelt.

"Leafsight!" Jaywatcher purred, turning to face the ThunderClan she-cat. But Leafsight's gaze was distracted.

"Im sorry." Jaywatcher mewed. "I was too harsh yesterday, and I'm sorry."

Leafsight's expression drifted upwards. "I forgive you. I was being too pushy. If it's ShadowClan business, I respect that."

Jaywatcher purred happily. She was just glad that she didn't have to argue with Leafsight.

Leafsight curled her tail forwards. "Want to hunt?"

"Of course," Jaywatcher turned to face ShadowClan territory. "But we're hunting on my territory tonight."

"Jaywatcher, Pinewhisker, Badgerheart and Dewpaw." Redstar called. "I'd like to see you all in my den."

Jaywatcher's ears pricked, and she silently climbed the Clanrock into Redstar's den.

Badgerheart had gotten there first, and Dewpaw was behind her. The apprentice was anxious, no doubt about it.

Jaywatcher curled her tail around the shaking tom. "It's alright. Your not in trouble." She soothed.

Pinewhisker settled beside Badgerheart. "What about Mousepaw?" The senior warrior asked.

"Your apprentice won't be a part of this. Dewpaw and Jaywatcher will spy, and Badgerheart and you," Redstar pointed a paw at Pinewhisker. "Will be a messenger."

Jaywatcher looked at her father, who dipped his head. "Yes, Redstar."

Redstar twitched his whiskers. The den was in silence before Redstar spoke again. "You start tonight. Jaywatcher, you and Dewpaw will pretend to be hurt, and hide out in their camp to spy."

Jaywatcher nodded. The plan sounded simple enough. She couldn't screw this up. No, she wouldn't screw this up.

"Okay Dewpaw. I'll have to scratch your leg to make it seem more believable." Jaywatcher soothed the panicked apprentice.

Dewpaw shivered. "This won't hurt, will it?"

"Look," Jaywatcher pointed a claw at her back leg. "I'll do it on myself." She raked her claws over her leg, wincing at the sudden pain.

Dewpaw flinched back, his green eyes wide. "No, no. I'd rather not." He muttered.
