The light that shone through links of the chain that traveled around my heart, was the only purity inside there was, though losing my parents made it even harder to remember anything close to love. Though the years passed, nothing has changed. The chain still locked my heart from freedom, in till one day.
2018, July 11, Kyoto
Summer, the unsettling heat of the sun, wavered into the room. "Ugh.." Stirring inside my sleep, I awoke, annoyed of the heat. "I wish summer was over already..." I said grumpily, getting off the sweaty bed that stained the previous night of uncomfort. Grabbing the doorknob, I suddenly hear the sound of the new neighbor's daughter, shouting from the outside world, through the panes of the glass window. "Shido! Wake up!" She shouted. angrily. I scratch the top of my head as I lazily prepared for the hard working day ahead of me.
Chewing on breakfast, I began for the door, when suddenly it is kicked open, the girl, aggravated, in front of me. "Will you take any longer?!" She questioned. "I'm already done" I began, chewing slowly on the piece of toast. "Shall we?" I notified her.
The Girl... Saiya Yuuto, younger by one year. Her long black pony tailed hair trailed behind her as we began walking towards the school. I've known her since we were little kids, she moved away when I was 7 years old. "Why can't you get up earlier and maybe prepare a little faster...it's just like when we were little kids... "She mumbled to me as we walked side by side. "I can't, that is how fast I can go in the morning, any faster and i'll just have to forget something, like pants for say, just like that one day... " I responded, giving some kicks of enthusiasm in my wording. The memory of not remembering pants was the worst... Higashi Koko. West High School, the school in which i've felt like i've been going for my whole entire life.
"Shido Yoshitoki?"
"Here!"
The teacher began calling the rest of the student's names out, morning check ins as usual. "Pssh, Toki-san, did you see the new girl?" Taka, whispered to me. Takahashi Kenshi, sophomore, just like us. Short dark brown hair, the usual trend of athletes. "The new girl?" I questioned, hoping it wasn't Saiya... But in the end it was. "Nice to meet you all, My name is Saiya Yuuto. I'll be glad to be learning with you guys" She snazzed up the last words. Most of the guys in the class began checking her out, since they decided she was a girl to reckoned with.
"Shido!" Saiya noticed me as I sat in the back of the class. "Ugh" I mumbled underneath my breath. The chains that tangled around my heart tightened. "I'll sit here" She pointed to the seat in front of me. She excuses the classmate that was originally suppose to sit in front of me.
Lunch break... I began walking in the hall when I stumble into Saiya. "O-oh S-Shido!" She said nervously, she looked extremely pale. "Hey Saiya, you don't look so good" I said, I slowly began raising my hand to check her if she had a fever then suddenly, she shoved a note into my hand. "Have this and meet me there!" She shouted and she ran off. "EH?!" I checked the note:
"Dear Shido,"
"Remember those days, in which we looked at the stars together? Can you remember anything that happened on those days? If you can, please meet me there... "
"Where... Where is there?" I mumbled to myself. What is she talking about?Sudden flash backs of stars, a dark figure, no features, no, wait, I can't see any features, what's happening? It's a girl, long hair, black? She looks quite young? No, she is young. Age 6, no, 7. She's saying something. B-But, why can't I hear it. "Yamashita Park... " The chains of my heart slowly begin to unravel.
Yamashita Park... It stuck in my head during the whole entire school day. Yamashita Park... I fumbled for my phone inside my pocket and I began searching up the park. "Its close..." I said, so I begin walking towards the park. There, I found her. She layed down on the ground, and she faced the sky. I began walking slowly, not trying to interrupt her sky gaze. "Saiya?" She stared, at the sky, motionless, only the breathing was audible. I lay beside her, and I begin to gaze at the sky. "Hey, Do you remember anything?" She says, tilting her head towards me. "I'm not sure..." I said, trying my best to understand what is currently happening.
"Do you remember anything about your parents?"
"No "
"Do you remember anything about me?"
"No... "
This haze began over me, parts of these questions are bringing back pieces of my memories. The car crash, hitting my head, amnesia... The chains, that surrounded my heart, began rusting, fading, disappearing, and now, they are gone.
"Do you remember?"
"I do..."
