Narration: October 10, 2022. Maxwell's Apartment. New York.
Narration: Stacy woke up alone in the room. She smiled sadly as she got up from the bed.
Stacy:
(Sighs) What do I expect, anyway.
My husband has never shared the bed with me since I moved into his apartment.
Narration: Stacy panicked after looking at the clock on the nightstand.
Stacy:
Oh, shit! It's already seven!
Narration: Stacy left the room and found out her husband was already having coffee in the kitchen.
Stacy:
Good morning, Maxwell!
Narration: Just like usual, Stacy didn't hear a single reply from her husband.
Stacy:
(Bites her lower lip) Uh... sorry for waking up late.
I finished a term paper last night. I forgot to turn on my alarm.
(Swallows) Your class today starts at eight, isn't it?
I still have time to cook breakfast.
What do you want to eat?
Narration: Maxwell stood up from his seat. He brought his empty cup of coffee to the sink, washed it before facing Stacy with a cold expression on his face.
Maxwell:
Stop this, Stacy. You don't have to do this for me.
Stacy:
But I'm your wife, Maxwell. And this is my responsibility as your wife.
Maxwell:
(Sighs heavily) You don't have any responsibility to me, Stacy.
Narration: Stacy bowed her head, her heart aching with Maxwell's words.
Stacy:
(Swallows hard) We're married, Maxwell.
No matter what you say, you can't stop me from acting this way.
Narration: Stacy slowly looked at Maxwell with pleading eyes.
Stacy:
I know you never wanted any of this, Maxwell... but can you at least try it, for us?
Narration: Maxwell's jaw clenched as his blue eyes turned colder.
Maxwell:
(Grits his teeth) I told you from the beginning, Stacy, marrying me would be the stupidest decision you'd ever made in your life.
Still, you didn't listen.
Narration: Maxwell picked up his trench coat on the counter before walking past Stacy.
Stacy:
M-maxwell...
Narration: Maxwell stopped in the doorway of the kitchen. But he didn't manage to turn his head toward his wife.
