"So, I hope you know what you and that snobby kid did," Mrs.Lin, our principal, leaned forward with a piercing glare and I nodded sheepishly, slightly amused by the way she referred to Ava as a 'snobby kid'. So I guess even the principal is disappointed in Ava. I wonder what they call Sally and Trent.
"Yeah...," I muttered slowly, not regretting even a bit of it.
"Mam, she honestly deserved it because she always treated June with hostility. And breaking others' phone is so wrong, it's something they've bought with their money," Karly said firmly, slightly frowning because unlike the teachers, she understood my feelings well and was confused at the principal's questioning glare.
Mrs.Lin scrunched her face, lowering her spects a bit to see Karly better and actually softening her gaze at us. Karly just smiled in response. She was seriously going to land me in trouble now, even though she was just trying to defend me. I was touched by her conscience to land herself on bad terms with the principal just for me, but Karly's a very kind person and shouldn't have a bad name at school just because she spoke up for her friend. Besides, speaking to the principal like that cannot work well, though she did use a pretty okay tone here and Mrs.Lin looks like she was actually softened by her words.
Klaus turned to the principal awkwardly and said, pointing to his sister, "Uh, we'll be out of here mam. You can speak with June."
He nodded to me and I nodded back, letting them know that I'll be okay. Perhaps.
"So," Mrs.Lin started, "I won't suspend you for now because I know both of you well. However, I didn't expect this from you, June Jacobs. You're a very good student, usually. That's the only reason I'm giving you both an equal chance, okay?" Mrs.Lin asked me and I nodded gratefully, my eyes lighting up instantly, "Thank you so much, Mrs.Lin. So can I go back to class?"
So, I guess I have to face Ava the next day, like usual. Bad luck, but okay. At least I'm free from suspension, that's what matters. Dad should never know this. Neither should Jasper.
"Not that easily, young lady. You should call your parent or guardian to meet me by today evening. I've to at least inform someone what you did to that girl, right? You should be careful, in case her parents go for some sort of legal measures against you or your family for physical assault."
The next complicated shit.
But sue me? For what? Breaking my phone and pushing me over so that my shoulder was pierced by the glass shards? Well, it's just Ava's luck that I haven't revealed that to anyone yet. Ava may have bloody wounds, but so do I and she's the one who triggered me in the first place. I really, with all my heart, hate that bitch. I only mildly disliked her until now, but not anymore. I'm never letting her get away with abusing me, my friends and my things ever again. She's taken it too far this time. Of course I won't harm her physically again, but she now knows that it's better not to mess around.
Well, anyways, I'm sure that the sue-thing Mrs.Lin said was just to scare me and to make up a reason for meeting my guardian and asking me to never repeat this again. If Ava's father's dares to sue me, I'll just reveal everything else she has done and said to me over these five years and how she added more and more to my pain of not having a mother. I regret not reacting to her right then and stopping her once and for all. Had I done that way before, I wouldn't be in this situation now. Definitely not; even if Ava's father tries to sue me or dad, Ava would stop him. She knows what she's done. And she knows what she'd get.
"My dad's out of city...," I said, hoping she would understand. Which she never will, of course.
"Who looks after you then?"
