Neil savored the river air as he walked by the slowly-flowing stream.
'Amazing day!' he thought.
That was until he heard the crying noise near the end of the stream.
Neil froze in his place, not knowing what to do. He slowly crept to where the noise came from, grabbing a stick for self-defense.
"W-who's there?!" he yelled, as the noises became louder. As he approached the end of the stream, he stopped in his tracks.
"Is that- a merman?!" He whispered to himself in awe. He never thought a half-fish man could be so... beautiful!
Neil admired the merman's shiny gray scales, but snapped back when the mermaid looked at his tail. It seemed to be stuck between two logs.
"Oh," Neil breathed, "that looks uncomfortable..."
Fast forward to when he helps the merman out from the logs
Neil seemed to be picking up the merman and taking him to his house. It's only two minutes away, and the merman seemed safer with him. The merman trusted him. Neil started sprinting, as he thought he might get stared at with a mermaid in his arms. As he stopped for a breather, a snake came out of the bushes and bit his ankle, (This will be important later!!) but he felt there was no pain, so he didn't mind.
The merman on the other hand—call him Sora— was enjoying this a lot. He bounced in happiness, but Neil told him to stop, as it was making it hard to run.
