It's picking up a bit now. More characters. More introductions.

"Dad, I'm gonna' go out for a walk." I shouted up the stairs to him. I looked at the time on my watch; it was only 7:38pm. I had been sat around with my dad for the remainder of the day trying to fix Max's scooter, and when I finally left to sit in my room, the boredom overtook me once again.

"Oh, okay. What time will you be out until?" He shouted back. You could hear the worry in his voice. I sighed internally, lacing up my Vans.

"I'm not sure. Don't worry, I have my phone." I replied, tapping my pocket just to make sure. Yep, it was there. I walked over to the door and left for the streets of San Diego.

I'd been walking around for a while and my legs were beginning to get tired. I crossed over the road, almost getting run over by multiple cars. I'd never really been very careful. In fact, I probably accidentally hurt myself at least once every day. I really am clumsy. I walked across the pavement and climbed over the short wall, making my way across the beach. It was getting late, but the air was still quite humid. I found a spot that was away from everybody else and took my jacket off, laying it flat on the sand. I sat down on top and crossed my legs, looking out towards the sea. It really was a beautiful place, and I was beginning to feel that maybe what my mom had done wasn't as bad as I first thought. Surely, this was a new opportunity for me? I mean, my dad would be enrolling me at school so I could get back on track after vacation. And he seemed more than happy to have me living with him... this could be the start of something good.

"Did you manage to fix that scooter?" I heard a familiar voice speak from beside me. I looked up to see the guy that had helped Max earlier.

"Uh, kinda'. But then again, my dad's not really good with DIY stuff, so he'll probably just get him a new one." I said, laughing slightly. Vic smiled, taking a seat on the sand beside me.

"Are you here alone?" He asked, eyebrows raised slightly. I nodded in reply, leaning back on my hands.

"I'm such a loner." I laughed, looking out ahead of me. "Sucks to be me."

"I'm here with some friends-" He started, pointing his thumb behind him to gesture to a small crowd of people on the beach. "-and my brother. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to meet you." He nodded, grinning at me. "C'mon Taylor."

"Help me up." I smirked, holding my arms up. He grabbed my wrists and pulled me up quickly. "Thanks." I smiled, picking up my jacket and shaking the sand off. I followed him over to his friends, kicking the sand every now and then as I walked. I was a really laid-back character, and I found it easy to get along with people. Hence why I already felt comfortable around Vic. But I gotta' say, being introduced to quite a large crowd of people was nerve-wracking, even for me. As soon as we reached them, all eyes were on me, and it made it even worse.

"I thought we had something special, Vic!" A guy with spiky hair exclaimed, faking a pout at Vic.

"Don't worry, Jaime. I love you too much." Vic replied, taking a seat on the sand. He gestured for me to sit down as well, so I ended up sitting between Vic and a really tall guy. "So guys, this is Taylor." I waved at them. "Taylor this is my brother Mike and his girlfriend Frenchi, Tony, Jaime, Cassadee and Jordan. There's often more, but they were being twats and wouldn't come to the beach." I smiled at them as Vic pointed to each one in turn. They all smiled back, and it made me feel more comfortable.
