The star-crossed lovers, but incompatible. | ONCELER X LORAX ANGST.

The start and end.

The Onceler and The Lorax were the happiest they had ever been. Their relationship was perfect in every way, they were always there for one another and had grown an inseparable bond. They loved each other more than anyone else. However, there was one issue that loomed over the couple... an issue that tore at the heart of their love like no other and would eventually tear the couple apart, leaving nothing but the tears of their broken hearts.

The sun was setting over Thneed-ville. The Onceler was waiting for his precious Lorax inside their home... He knew something was wrong. He could sense it in every fiber of his being. The tension was thick in the air, it was palpable, and all he knew is that he couldn't stand it any longer. He needed to know exactly what was wrong, so he finally decided to ask... 

"My love... What is it? What's wrong..?"

"We... We need to talk. You know there's always been an issue in our otherwise perfect relationship... A thing that has torn me apart on the inside ever since we met" The Lorax said sadly, trying desperately to avoid the Onceler's eyes. 

He knew this would be heartbreaking for them both, but it had to be said. The Lorax took a deep breath and looked at the Onceler with tears welling in his eyes. He didn't know how this would go over... would the Onceler still be his after this...?

"This... I can't bear it anymore" The Lorax continued sorrowfully, trying to hold back his tears. 

"I just can't believe that two people as perfect for one another as us... could have a problem so big that it would tear us apart like this" The Lorax was clearly very upset, but his love for the Onceler and their relationship was even stronger still. He knew this would hurt, but he simply could not go on like this any longer...

"There is... There is an incompatibility."

"W-we we are... Incapable..." The Lorax trailed off, as if he couldn't believe he was saying this, but he was finally ready to tell him. 

"I.. I am a tree hugger, and you are a mighty businessman" his voice was choked up and he had finally run out of tears, he had no more left to give the world. 

"I love you more than anything... but that is an incompatibility that... that we cannot overcome..."

The Onceler's eyes began to well up with tears as he realized that the Lorax was right... A mighty businessman and a tree hugger will never be able to live together in harmony, how foolish they had been to think otherwise... 

How could they have not seen this coming? But they were too blinded by love to see... 

The Lorax and the Onceler shared a sad but loving kiss... 

They knew it would be the end of their relationship, but there was no way to avoid it... 

"How could we be so blind?" The Onceler whimpered.

"But... What about our love...? It's so strong... Can't it work somehow?" The Onceler asked, his face streaked with tears. In his heart though, he knew that it would be no use to fight something so natural... 

And yet, his feelings were still so strong... 

His whole life had led him to this point, and this... Was the end... 

"Is there any other way?" He asked the Lorax, his eyes desperately pleading for anything else that could be done...

The Lorax looked to his love, his heart heavy with pain, but he knew that this was necessary. 

"I wish more than anything that it could work out" he sadly said, his mustache wavering with every word, 

"but I fear this is truly the end. We cannot overcome this incompatibility between us, we always knew this day would come... The day we would have to split up and go our separate ways... The pain of it is almost unbearable." 

The sun had since set... 

"We must learn to let go..." He said, a tear rolling down his cheek.

The Onceler stared at his one true love... 

He knew what must be done... 

So he grabbed the Lorax by the shoulders to look into his eyes, knowing these would be their last moments together. He knew at this moment he would try his hardest to convey just how much he loved his Lorax... 

It simply wasn't easy saying this goodbye... 

"Tell me... Tell me you love me again..." he said with a tear filled voice. 

"Tell me you love me... just one last time, before we part forever."

" I... I love you." The Lorax responded with a tear rolling down his face. The two shared a last kiss before letting go of one another, knowing what must be done... 

"Goodbye... My love..." they said in unison, each staring into the other's eyes as they drifted farther and farther apart... 

This was the saddest, most heart-wrenching thing either of them had ever had to do, it was beyond either of their capabilities to explain with words just how much... 

They loved each other, and how much... 

Pain they felt in this moment.

The Onceler watched as his precious Lorax disappeared, never to be seen by his eyes again. This hurt him more than he knew possible. He could feel the last of his heart breaking, he did not think he would ever be able to recover from this... 

But he knew that he had to.. this was how it had to end. And he had to move on. Even though his Lorax had taken all his heart with them, he knew he would one day learn to live again... 

Somehow, some day...

And that is how the Onceler and the Lorax's story ends... 

They were two star crossed lovers whose love could simply not be, a tragic story like no other. They both moved on after their heart was filled with sorrow and grief, they each carried their own burdens. Although they may have lost each other, they will forever live in the hearts of both of them... 

It was a tale of love and loss like no other, an incomparable story of hearts separated. But most importantly, it was a story that was never forgotten, one that will endure long after their mortal lives are over.
