'Invaders' That is what we call these monsters.

[ Context ]

Almost ten years ago, during September of 2020, cracks of space-time appeared across the planet, Randomly. These eerie portals appeared inside houses, busy highways, and even in the damn sky.

But strangely, people did not have a single clue on how it occurred.

Though we were already facing a serious pandemic at that time anyways, so we were not even a tat bit fazed when some strange portal showed up out of no where.

As people gradually let their guards down against these rifts, they appeared.

Invaders...

Those invaders broke through the rifts and started to wreak havoc across our world.

No amount of modern tech or weaponry could even lay a tiny scratch on the weakest of the invaders.

Even nuclear war did not affect them either.

And even as we would later acquire the power from a pitying deity to kill the invaders,

Humanity was to perish either way.

They increasingly became stronger and stronger, until we couldn't even stop them from destroying the last bastion of man.

Even the strongest 'Rift walkers'  at that time and greatest guild ever produced, were crumbled to pieces.

But unfortunately, I was a part of said 'Greatest guild'

As David Ashbury.

[ Present time ]

Crash!

My body plummeted to the ground leaving a trail of dust and sweat.

Blood trickled down the sides of my face, as I gasped and huffed hot air through my throat.

{ Argh... Fuck! }

*Checks wounds*

Half my torso was mangled and ripped, my intestines oozing out. I went completely numb head-to-toe from maddening pain.

For every twitch, blink, and breath I take: It was paid back with pain unbelievably intense that I thought I died ten times over, only staying conscious through the sheer amount of adrenaline coursing through every inch of my body.

Both my arms were broken...

No...

More like 'beyond repair'.

I could feel every sensation across my body, to my lungs breathing and the breeze brushing against my empty eye socket.

It made me feel lethargic and sick to my stomach, not like I still have one at least.
