Second

22 1 0

There were palms rubbing together

Skin folding over skin

Lapping up the heat between two barren bodies

There was a man whose heart was empty

His eyes were cold –unseeing

He used the friction to dull the pain

There was a woman whose body was needy

It craved contact –touch

The sensation of skin dulled the ache

There was a second

Or maybe a fraction

Of a fraction of one

There, in that second

There were two hearts which

Involuntarily opened up

There were two gazes that

Coincidentally met

There were three words which

Were silently whispered

And in the end

There were two souls which had

Intertwined inexplicably

And

There were two people who had

Realized that things would be okay

I'm so happy! I just logged on to see that this little project of mine had made it to #250 in the Spiritual section. Thank you so much to everyone who gave my works a chance and took the time to read them. And a special thank you to my one dedicated voter (you know who you are). You rock!

xx,
