Dustin reentered the room with a book, clutched in his arm. He felt a mix of excitement and dread. His mind raced recalling everything they'd been through. When he placed the book on the kitchen table, he looked up, seeing the confused yet curious expression of everyone. They were relying on them.

"The mind flayer,"

Hopper furrowed his brows as he leaned over at the table, staring down at the creature on the paper. That thing looked like it belonged in a nightmare.

"What the hell is that?"

Dustin moved his hands around as he spoke, his eyes widening in terror. He spends so much time playing DND but knowing that the Mind Flayer is real, made his stomach twist. He looked around at everyone, they needed to know what they were up against.

"It's a monster from an unknown dimension. It is so ancient that it doesn't even know its own home. Okay, so it enslaves races of other dimensions by taking over their brains using its highly developed psionic power."

Hopper's patience ran thin as he shook his head. This whole thing felt like one sick fever dream- monsters, alternate dimensions, kids talking about ancient creatures with mind control powers. His jaw tightened as he threw his hands up.

"Oh my God, none of this is real, this is a kid's game."

Dustin's shoulders become intense as Lucas and Mike back him up, his confidence rising with their support. He shot a look at Hopper, challenging him. He could feel the tension in the room.

"It's a manual. And it's not for kids. "And unless you know something that we don't, this is the best metaphor."

Lucas leaned in, glancing at Dustin with a smile, correcting him. "Analogy,"

Dustin shot Lucas a glare, frustrated.

"Analogy? That's what you're worried about? Fine. An analogy for understanding whatever the hell this is."

Nancy leaned in, her eyes narrowing on the page of the book Dustin just opened. She could feel a chill down her spine but still focused on the illustrations and detailed description. This whole thing had been insane. Her fingers brush at the edge of the book, determined.

"Okay, so this mind-flamer thing..." she began, skeptically

He felt frustrated as he corrected her

"Flayer. Mind Flayer,"

Nancy let out a sigh, her patience running thin now. This isn't a mystery to solve, it's a threat that could put Hawkins in danger.

"What does it want?"

Dustin felt a weight on his shoulder, he took a moment to think before saying anything.

"To conquer us. It believes it's a master race. "
