AN:

I'm really sorry if I've given anyone a heart attack... but yes I am updating!!

I kinda lost inspiration to write fanfiction while at university... I feel like I lost 'who I was', I wasn't sure what I liked doing anymore and what made me happy because I felt quite lost. But I feel better now and after a Lord of the Rings marathon for my birthday last friday, I felt ready to write another part of this fanfiction.

This goes back to a part in the movie, which I'm sure you guys will recognise.

I really hope you like it, sorry that it is quite long!

Let me know if it's still any good :)

Kili

The next morning all of the company set out early to make the most of the time given to us. Riding was hard to begin with, the Weather Hills proving quite difficult to pass on horseback, however by mid-day we were able to reach the end of them and we found ourselves back into less dense woodland and heathland. Emeril, like yesterday, had opted to wander ahead to make sure our path was clear from Orcs, and I knew that since last night, everyone's sense were on high alert for any sign of the foul beasts.

My mind was constantly set on Emeril as I worried every time she wandered on ahead, worried that she might not return. I was also concerned for her because of last night. I knew instantly that once I had made the joke about the Orcs and Emeril had slinked off, that something was wrong and that it was my fault. I hadn't, however, expected her to tell me what she had said. For an Elf that was usually so bright, she had an awful history. What worried me most though was that Emeril could not remember what had happened all those years ago and that she did acquire some wounds, meaning that someone hurt her. I knew that Orcs had a foul nature, meaning that there wasn't anything that they wouldn't do to cause their victims pain before killing them.

"Kili!" A call to my right brought me from my thoughts and I turned my head to see Fili pulling his pony close to mine so that he could talk to me. "You looked distracted once again."

"I was thinking," I said dismissively, shrugging my shoulders to show that I did not think that much of his statement.

"Of Emeril?" Fili raised his eyebrow, waiting for my response. I sighed deeply and nodded, knowing it would be pointless to lie to my brother, for who would know if I did. "You've thought about her a lot these past few days."

"I'm still trying to work her out." I defended myself and Fili held up his left hand to show that he meant know offence by his accusation.

"I know brother," he nodded. "I am beginning to trust her, I think. She has helped our party out many a time over the last couple of days, I do not think we could have come this far without her."

"I think the same," I agreed. As I was about to add to my statement, a drop of water hit my nose, followed by several more. A round of grunts and moans rose up from the Dwarves in front of me as the rain began to come down more heavily.
