Gaster isn't too happy.
This experiment was useless.
"Experiment Y. You can't fight so you make a terrible bio weapon. You can't create offspring no matter how many partners I give you and worst of all you're a troublemaker and inconvenience me at every opportunity imaginable. You are such a disappointment."

Experiment Y, or Passion, held his head low and gritted his teeth, trying his best not to cry. He held his head low while keeping a soulless grin on his face, panting hoarsely from the training exercises. He was bleeding all over his body from the fight he was just in. He lost it and Gaster had to call off the other sharks in order to keep his experiment alive. As always Passion was scolded. He didn't use his magic whip rights. The aim for the sharpened bones weren't precise enough. He wasn't focused enough. He wasn't GOOD enough. He'll never be good enough in the eyes of this critical tyrant. He gave a dry, emotionless laugh as he looked up at Gaster, causing him to pause and flash Passion a disapproving look*

"This is NOT a laughing matter Experiment Y. Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is for you to have lost so profoundly yet again?"

"i-"

"Don't talk. That was rhetorical and you knew that."

"i could tell, i was just gonna tell you that i really don't care what you think. i'm a fucking thresher shark. of course i couldn't win against a drugged up great white whose well fed. you barely fed me and expected my magic not to fail how exactly???"

"You know why you weren't fed."

"haha the intern had it coming and so did you."

"... That's it. I should have reprimanded you more diligently when I first got you. It's no wonder you were so cheap on the market!"

"if it's for attitude then you'd be cheaper you prick."

They went at it for over an hour with Gaster screaming at Passion at some point, having Passion scream right back. Another scientist had to come and drag Gaster out when he used blue magic to grab Passion's soul and forced it out into the open. He had threatened to crush it. Passion was terrified, but alas he persevered and kept talking even as Gaster was pulled away. Alone in the lab Passion forced his soul back into its rightful place and sighed. Now he just needed to wait to be put into the tank with IX, aka Papyrus, for the night. He didn't flinch as Epic, the only Scientist who treats the sharks like equals and advocated for him at all, strolled in after an hour. He had food with him. Whole fish instead of whatever pellets Gaster feeds him.

"Damn bruh, you really did it this time. He didn't hurt you at all right?"

Passion sighed as he relaxed against the tank, staring at the fish with hunger. Still, he managed to stay calm and not sound so desperate. "nah, not physically anyways. just my pride."

Epic laughed as he handed the raw fish to Passion, who tentatively takes it. "Figures. That was so uncool with what he did to your soul. I talked to him and I'll make sure that he doesn't do it again." Epic watches as Passion takes large but neat bites of his fish, forcing himself not to gobble it down messily like the barbarian that Gaster claimed he was. Epic looks saddened for a moment before sighing, looking serious. "Listen Pass, I'm doing my best for you but... there's been talks of you being sold off and if they do this then i can't save you."

Passion froze, stopping the finger licking action that he was only comfortable doing in front of Epic. Epic, who secretly feeds him when he's meant to starve. Epic, who laughs with him and makes sure that Gaster's abuse doesn't go any farther than harder training and starvation. Epic was his only friend amongst the scientists and Papyrus was his only friend amongst the sharks that were in and out of the facility. He doesn't want to be apart from them!
(but maybe it's for the best. after all i don't deserve them.)
"thanks... for the warning. don't worry bro, i'll behave. i'll be a good shark. i've been good. Gaster just doesn't see it."

Epic sighs. "I know bruh, he's got a thick skull and can't see past the bridge of his nose. I'll keep him off of you though ok? Or at least try heh. Ready to go back to your cage?"

Passion: "hell yeah! i need cuddles and only Paps can provide them."

And so he was wheeled back into the tank with IX and that was supposed to be that. They all talked and laughed until Epic had to go home. It was late after all and he already made sure that the others went home first. After all there was a storm warning and they were on a ledge over the ocean. He'd rather not drive home in the storm in these conditions. So Passion slept.

Tomorrow was supposed to be a normal day. This was supposed to be a normal night of recovery as Passion's wounds recovered. But the storm was loud and unforgiving. The windows creaked under the pressure and some time in the night.... Shattered. The raging tropical storm was none other than a hurricane, and a strong one at that. It wasn't forecasted though. It was just supposed to be a normal tropical storm but it wasn't. The tank burst. Passion couldn't recall what happened exactly, just that one moment a large body curled around him to protect him from the glass or getting banged around and the next moment that warm, forgiving body dissolved into sea foam right before his eyes. That sweet, apologetic smile and tearful expression disintegrating right in front of him. His last words were hard to understand but deep down Passion could hear it in his soul. He cried even as the winds dragged him out of the facility's large windows and flung him into the air. He was terrified yet still he persevered and soon he had formed a purple bubble of magic around himself. That was the last thing he remembered as he slammed into the harsh waves. It really burst his bubble.
