Cayden and John turned around while Angelina and Gail looked around John and Cayden, spotting Equin standing there.

Gail quickly jumped up rushing over to her sister. "Oh my god. Are you alright? Did Connor do anything to hurt you? Did he force you to do something that you didn't want to do?"

"Gail calm down. I'm fine. Connor didn't do anything to me. He respects me enough to wait until we have the ceremony to do anything that a proper mate would do," Equin explained.

"I still wouldn't put it past him. Look at what that poor bastard did to Lucina," Gail started to say earning a sharp glare from Equin.

"I don't think now is the appropriate time to be bringing up something like that," Equin snapped at Gail.

Cayden looked between Gail and Equin with a confused look on his face. "You mean that sick bastard has tried to force another innocent woman into being his mate?"

Equin turned her gaze to Cayden. "There is a time and place for everything. But this is neither the time, nor the place to be bringing up past events. We have a business to run; and you two gentlemen should not be back here."

"We are only trying to-" Cayden started.

"Get to marching where all customers sit to be served. Argue with me about it, then I will tell Clara," Equin cut Cayden off.

"We best be getting a move on. Clara can be pretty scary when she gets mad. If she finds out that we are keeping those three young ladies from making today's profits, then Clara will have a big bone to pick with us," John said while escorting Cayden out from the back.

"Surely you aren't afraid of what your wife would do," Cayden said.

"Clara likes to talk. And when she gets to talking to Equin, sometimes Clara's mouth runs away with her and she manages to give Equin creative ideas as to how she can punish those who don't listen," John said.

"I take it that you have experienced one of Equin's creative punishments before," Cayden asked.

"No. But I have heard plenty of stories about the things that she has done to others who angered her. I don't want to experience that for myself," John said.

"Your wife wouldn't go and give Equin any ideas of how to punish you, if you were to anger her. Besides, I don't find Equin to be all that scary," Cayden said.

"That's because you haven't seen me pissed off," Equin said before turning her glance to John. "John, do you mind stepping out with me for a moment? I need to have a word with you."

"Looks like you're in big trouble now John," Cayden said in a joking manner.

John gave Cayden a stern look before turning back to look at Equin. "Where would you like to speak?"

Equin leaned in close to whisper in John's ear. "Meet me back by the employee entrance. We need to keep this secret from prying ears."

John got up from the stool, turning to make his way to the door. As he was walking towards it, he noticed Connor and his men sitting at their usual table. Now I understand why Equin said that she wanted to take this outside. Connor is here keeping an eye on every move that Equin makes, John thought to himself as he made his way out the door.

John walked to the back where he found Equin walking out of the door. "What is it that you needed to talk to me about, dear? Did Connor do something that you didn't give him permission to do?"

"Connor didn't force himself on me. He was nothing but a gentleman, which I know is quite the shocker, because it's not the way Connor is. But Connor isn't the reason why we're out here talking," Equin replied.
