Chapter 17 - The Battle of Shinjuku

"Hey," Shinoa quietly called out to Y/n once they were close to Shinjuku and the periwinkle purple-haired female noticed her comrade was spacing out, "You doing okay?"

"I don't know," Y/n sighed, running a hand through her soft, h/c hair.

Shinoa stared at the other female and frowned in worry, before being called to the head of the group.

"We'll be reaching Shinjuku soon!" The major general told suddenly.

Most everyone nodded.

As soon as the walls of Shinjuku appeared, everyone gasped. Smoke rose to the sky in large amounts, presumably from the loud explosions that sounded behind the walls. The group immediately gasped and began running towards the tall walls of Shinjuku.

"What's happening?!" Y/n yelled.

Shinya yelled back, not stopping his run, "They've already began attacking Shinjuku!"

Y/n gulped down a dry lump in her throat as they continued running straight towards the explosions.

The two groups all ran inside of the tall walls, being greeted by some lower soldiers with lower-class bows. Immediately the teams got fired at from helicopters piloted by vampires. Other choppers stopped close to the towers before letting several dozen vampires out to close quarter combat.

Y/n shot a few lower class and common vampires. She could feel her adrenaline up itself each kill she made, which only made her feel worse inside.

The poor girl wanted to cry, so much had happened in the past few hours. She wanted to lay in bed and just sob herself to sleep. She wanted to do nothing but read, cuddle, and eat her heart out. This was way too much for just a month or two with humans.

"C'mon!" Shinoa yelled to her group before turning to Narumi, "Our group is too big! We'll need to split up into several teams!"

"Right!" Narumi agreed as he took out several vampires, "Major general Shinya?!"

"Yes...! Narumi!" Shinya started, acknowledging the teenagers, "Your team will go around to the left. Shinoa, your team will go through the middle, and Y/n and I will go to the right! We will all meet in the middle of Shinjuku!"

"Yes, sir!" He got several responses of.

"Are you hurt?" Shinya asked Y/n at one point after they had almost made it to where they needed to be.

"Uhm..." Y/n took a hefty breath, "I can't tell, why?"

"Don't panic, but I think your wound reopened..." Shinya said nonchalantly with a sarcastically worried smile.

Y/n looked down at the side of her abdomen where she had been stabbed with the kunai, slight blood dripping from her black and lime uniform.

Y/n panicked.

"I said don't panic!" Shinya yelled at Y/n, stabbing a vampire in the chest with the blade on his gun.

"You make me panic!" Y/n retorted in a seethe, her voice several octaves higher than normal from her horror.
