Ella's POV
A sharp shooting pain shot through my ankle as I lay on the ground in the box. I heard a loud whistle and ref ran over to me checking I was okay. I just nodded before propping myself back to my feet. "How long left ref?" I asked politely. "1 minute" she said. I knew this would most likely be the last shot of the game. I did some ankle movements before the penalty to make sure it was all good which it was fine now.I stepped up to take it. I hated taking penalties, I couldn't deal with the pressure. Knowing that if you missed it was purely your fault yet I still took them because I had practiced so many times to avoid that heartbreak I'd got the hang of not letting the keeper know where I'm going. I took a deep breath to try calm my breathing, then the ref blew the whistle for me to go. I did a slow run up before placing it carefully into the bottom right corner, and the keeper dived to the left. Once again I did the same celebration, but this time the team took longer to go back to the formation because we knew we'd won. The Tigers looked defeated and upset but I understand why. Only seconds after the ref blew to kick off she blew for the final whistle.
This was it Wentworth Women's FC had won the league for the first time ever. They usually finish around 4th or 5th so this was something we'd never experienced before.
Jonas POV
I watched and the unnamed girl fell to the floor in a accidental tackle by the goalkeeper of the opposition. The keeper received a yellow card but the young girl must've been hurt quite a bit as she didn't attempt to get up. After the ref spoke with her she got back on her feet and walked to the penalty spot. I watched in anticipation as the young talent took her penalty. Cheers went around fans in celebration for their 3rd goal of the night. When the final whistle went I was glad for the young girl, she had an exceptional game and really showed her talent.Music played through the speakers while the players shouted along and sprayed champagne on each other while people set up for the ceremony. It wasn't a huge thing due to the club only being small but the players looked like they'd enjoy it.
*They don't play in the championship, imagine a league but this is the ceremony thing*
Ella POV
I was so excited for to lift the trophy. I'd never lifted a trophy this big before but there's a first for everything I guess. The girls and I were slightly wet from the champagne, some more than others tho. We then got the signal to line up for our medals. Everyone was in the podium when they announced my name just like everyone else. I shook hands with everyone and carried the trophy to the centre. The crowd went 'ooo' in suspense and cheered when I lifted the trophy into the air. We all jumped around and smiled for the photographer. Walking off podium I took some pictures by myself with the trophy and some with the other girls in the team. I wasn't quite sure what to do now as everyone else went off to talk to their family. That was the weird part of being in the women's team, most already were married or had a partner and children so in that regard I'd always feel left out but I know it's not their fault. I walked around the pitch taking pictures with fans, when a young girl around 6 years old said "I want to be like you when I grow up." I smiled at this comment before replying, "you have to make sure you work really hard no matter what people say or think about you or that you play football." She smiled and nodded, "would you like a photo?" "YES" she shouted excitedly. I chuckled before smiling towards her dad who held the phone. "Can you sign my sign" she asked shyly. I'd never signed something for a fan before so I was a bit nervous. I knew my autograph because it was something I'd practised many times when I was younger in preparation for this day. "What's your name darling?" I asked her. She replied "Harley, Harley cooper." "I've got to go now but I hope to see you playing with me when your older."Once I'd finished speaking to Harley we all had to go back to our coach which I was slightly relieved about. He was talking about how we did so well and how proud of us he was but I wasting really listening. He was talking for about 5 minutes, when he dismissed everyone except me. I didn't know what I'd done now but I just hoped he would ruin my joy right now. He was telling me about how there was a guy here who wants to speak to me about something and we walked over to him. That when he turned and I was starstruck
