Y/n woke up slowly. She was still exhausted, and wanted to go back to sleep when she noticed she was no longer in the hospital ward, but instead she was lying in bed.
In Ferid's bed.
With Ferid.
Ferid laid on his back, an arm draped over his stomach, with his other under Y/n, wrapped around the girl's waist. The noble wore a white and cloud grey robe. His hair was let out of its ponytail and rested over the vampire's shoulders.
Y/n was cuddled up to Ferid's side, one leg of hers over top of Ferid's, and Y/n's head rested on the vampire's chest, her face almost hidden by the noble's soft hair and hidden against Ferid's neck.
Y/n reached up and played with a bit of Ferid's hair, twirling it around her pointer finger as she took a deep breath and melted into the vampire for the first time in several months, savoring his smell and the warm embrace.
Before Y/n could fall back asleep, Ferid's scarlet eyes opened, and he turned his head to look at Y/n.
"Awake, are you?" He grinned softly.
Y/n hummed, relaxing even more and basking in the comforting atmosphere of the dark room, "What time is it?"
Ferid looked over to the grandfather clock in his bedroom.
"About three in the morning," Ferid sighed, "You should go back to bed. You need to rest."
Y/n was about to do just that when worrying images from several months ago popped up in her mind again. If she didn't get the answer to them, then she would have more nightmares about it, like she did when she was with the humans.
Y/n sat up a bit, strained from her injury, looking over Ferid, a hand on the vampire's chest for support as she looked at him.
"Are you okay?" She asked softly.
Ferid was rather confused to say the least, "Uh, yes? Why wouldn't I be?"
"Well, you were fighting the lieutenant colonel several times! You didn't get hurt, did you?"
Ferid chuckled quietly, "Lay back down," he told, slightly dragging Y/n back down onto the bed.
Y/n laid down, Ferid making sure she would stay where she was and not risk for her stitching.
"I'm fine," he reassured, "I'm a lot tougher than I look. Did you not see me fighting him in Shinjuku? I think I taught him a good lesson."
Y/n frowned, but cuddled back into Ferid, taking his word. She didn't have the energy to argue right now, of course, not like the vampire would let her anyway.
Y/n worried over her next question, not sure if she wanted to know the answer.
"Just say yes or no..." she started, mumbling, "If you.... did you find more information about me...?"
The vampire carefully thought it over for a little bit. They had found a little bit of information, but not a whole lot. They found enough, though.
"I suppose, yes," he shrugged, not the most thrilled that Y/n found out she was a seraph and by no means wanted to know why or anything.
Y/n hummed.
She no longer had the strength to keep her eyes open or respond. She was just so tired. She was so comfortable like this with Ferid, that it made almost everything else impossible.
She just wanted to sleep, and she was going to do just that.
Y/n woke up once more a few hours later, still exhausted, but it was mainly to make sure Ferid was still there.
And he was, which eased the poor girl's mind and heart, lulling her back into sleep once more.
She was back with Ferid.
She was so tired.
She had lived through hell at age nineteen.
This was too much for a Sunday morning after being kidnapped, a war, a bad injury, and almost dying.
