Porsche (13:10): You know what, Pete? He also mentioned on the phone not to talk to him during that hour because I was present. It's messing with my head.
Pete (13:11): Why don't you just ask him who he was talking to?
Porsche (13:11): Cheaters are liars, Pete! You should be aware of that. Keep an eye on Vegas.
"Who are you messaging?" Vegas stopped pushing the cart and looked at his husband.
Pete smiled. "I'm texting Porsche."
"About what?"
"Just random things," he lied. "It's his lunch break. You know, like any close friends catching up, sharing thoughts, making jokes."
Vegas simply nodded. He seemed tired. "We should consider having our housemaid do the grocery shopping next time."
"Why?" Pete enjoyed doing it. Ever since he got married, it had become a hobby. Without a job, household chores and shopping for supplies helped pass the time.
"I've been getting busier with work lately," Vegas answered. "And you, well, you're getting bigger." He gently patted Pete's belly. Yes, Pete was a few months pregnant. They had recently gone shopping for maternity clothes.
"But I'm fine," Pete replied. He couldn't imagine sitting around doing anything until the baby arrived.
"The doctor said your pregnancy is delicate."
"And the doctor also said I shouldn't be stressed out," Pete sighed. "Look, I know you're just concerned, but I'll be more stressed if I'm not keeping myself busy."
"Okay," Vegas said. He knew Pete always loved to argue with others, but he noticed that in conversations between them, if they had differing perspectives, Vegas would often give in to what Pete wanted. "Just promise me you'll let me know if you're not okay."
"I promise," Pete reassured, giving Vegas a warm smile. His husband returned the smile, and Pete realized that he needed to find out what had happened yesterday.
He didn't want to overthink. Doing so would only cause him unnecessary stress. Pete glanced at the grocery list he had made and then surveyed the items already in the cart. Working as a bodyguard for his former boss Kinn and his family had instilled in him a sense of organization and precision, even in regular household chores. With the extensive training and skills he acquired as the head bodyguard of one of the most influential families in Bangkok, he applied the same level of dedication as a househusband. Cooking was the only aspect he was still practicing, as he wasn't trained in it.
He suddenly realized he had forgotten to grab soy sauce. Glancing around, Pete saw that he and Vegas were currently standing in aisle three, while the soy sauce and other condiments were two to three aisles away.
"I need to get the soy sauce," he informed Vegas. Pete made a move to walk towards that aisle when Vegas swiftly grabbed his hand. Pete looked at him, taken aback. "Hey, I need to get it. I'll be cooking something later."
"I'll accompany you," Vegas insisted. "Or if you want I'll get that for you and you'll wait for me here."
"You always get the wrong brand."
