It was the beginning of December and snow had already begun covering the ground. You and Sero sat in his dorm room giggling at some dumb jokes you had been making to each other. The movement of your body, caused by laughter, took an abrupt pause however when a shiver passed through your whole body because of the cold winter air. Sero's laughter quieted down as he got up and grabbed one of his hoodies from the back of his desk chair, proceeding to throw it at you, hitting your face. You made a small smile and rolled your eyes after it fell into your lap and thanked him sarcastically before slipping it on. He smiled at you and brushed off your thanks, "It looks better on you anyway" He chuckled. You quickly grabbed and shoved a pillow in his face, using play fighting as a way to keep him from seeing the blush that was spreading across your face. Laughter once again filled the room, and your smile grew listening to his heart-wrenching laughter. Butterflies filled your stomach and you internally sigh.

You were walking down the street headed towards a cafe with Sero when you noticed his eyes were focused intently on a blonde girl walking a few feet ahead of you. Her laughter bounced around the crowded sidewalk and you could see Sero's signature smile grow. He looked over to you "Hey, I'll meet you at the cafe, order me the usual" He winked before running off towards the girl with his phone in his hands. Your heart sunk to your stomach, how had his face lit up that much from seeing a stranger? With a now sour feeling in your stomach, you decide to text Sero and let him know that you're going back to the dorm instead of to the cafe as originally planned, ending the message with a "have fun".

The next few days all you heard about was the blonde girl that Sero claimed to have loved at first sight. Her name was Heather and she was a foreign exchange student from America who had transferred to a local high school. She had just swooned when she found out that Sero was a hero-in-training and that had provided Sero all the ego boost he had needed. Now he was constantly talking about her, seemingly oblivious to the change in your demeanor every time she was brought up. "I have a date with her coming up this week," he said "Any ideas as to what we should do?". You had zoned out again, much like you did every time Heather was brought up, but you were brought abruptly back into reality when you heard your name fall from Sero's lips. "Seriously Y/N? What has been up with you lately?" you looked over at him, his face no longer holding its usual smile, now looking irritated. "I just haven't been feeling well..." you lied through your teeth. Sero, not completely believing you, sighed heavily. "Sure, whatever you say N/N" he spoke as he rose from his seat and walked away from you.

That was the last time you had seen Sero outside of class in a few weeks, your daily conversations had ceased and you had been left alone to wallow in your heartbreak. A few of your classmates had noticed the shift in your attitude and the fact you weren't by Sero's side anymore, but you brushed off their worry with lies of being okay. Mina, however, refused to take your words with a grain of salt like everyone else and decided it was her responsibility to make sure you were happy. So when she heard class 1-B was hosting a party in their dorm building, she knew she had to drag you along. When she had first proposed the idea to you, you had denied vehemently, yet here you were, the night of the party, in Mina's dorm room letting her paint your face with makeup. You sighed as you adjusted your shirt "How did I let you drag me into this?" You asked the horned girl. "Oh please," Mina retorted "You should be thanking me for getting you out of your room! Or would you rather be alone tonight to cry and eat ice cream?" You thought for a moment "Maybe you're right" you admitted. She smiled wide as you left the dorm building "I always am~".

When you arrived at the party, your classmates smiled and greeted you "It's nice to see you out and about again" Jiro smiled "Yeah, especially since your falling out with Ser- OW!" Kaminari chimed in before Jiro elbowed him in the side. Your smile fell slightly after the mention of Sero, but you glued a fake one on as soon as you had caught yourself. "I'm glad too" You grinned "But I'm gonna go grab some punch" you excused yourself from the group before heading over to a table that 1-B had set up for drinks and snacks. You were pouring yourself a drink when you heard someone call your name from behind.

When you tuned you saw Sero. "Hey (Y/N)! I can finally introduce you to Heather!" His arm was around the shoulder of the girl he had met on the street, the exchange student of his dreams. You put on a fake smile "It's nice to finally meet you! Sero really does not shut up about you!" You tried to sound genuine, but the disgust you felt slipped through as sarcasm. Sero shot you a look, but thankfully due to the language barrier, it went right over Heather's head. Her smile widened as she began talking to you about everything and anything. You smile politely but zone out, glancing around you finally notice what Heather is wearing and your blood runs cold. The sweater he had lent to you the winter before was adorning her torso. Your fake smile finally drops and you quickly excuse yourself, rushing outside to calm down. "It's just polyester, calm down (Y/N)" you mutter to yourself. You sit down on a bench outside the dorms and try to hold back your tears. Why did you want her to go away? To be dead? You were supposed to be a hero. You shouldn't be thinking like this.

"I'm not going to ask again (Y/N). What is going on with you" You look up from your hands to face the owner of the voice, tears slowly falling from your eyes. You stood quickly and brushed the tears from your face, opening your mouth to spit out an excuse. But before you could get one in, Sero spoke. "Don't lie to me again". Your face dropped. You hated how well he knew you. "I don't want to talk about it" You spat, now defensive. You turned to walk away, trying to avoid this conversation. Before you could get far he grabbed your wrist and pulled you back towards him. "You don't get to just walk away (Y/N). Not after what's been happening" He spat at you, clearly angry with you. You stopped moving and stared into the ground.

"I didn't want to meet her" You mumbled. "I hate even hearing about her" Sero looked at you quizzically "What problem could you possibly have with her? You don't even know her?" You scoffed. Finally looking up at his face "Of course! How could I hate her? She's just an angel isn't she?" You spoke loudly and angrily. "What is your prob-" Sero tried to speak, but you cut him off. "Why couldn't it have been me?" you muttered. He stood frozen from shock, processing what your words meant. His grip loosened on your wrist and you took the chance to pull it from his hand. "I wish I were Heather" You spoke before walking back inside, disappearing into the crowd.
