Y/n looked up at Ferid in terror, before looking over to the bush where she last saw her friends out of the corner of her eye.

Y/n stuttered, shocked, anxious, nervous, and a bunch of terrible theories of how this could end ran through her head.

"Feri-"

"Y/n," Ferid narrowed his eyes at the girl, successfully shutting her up, "I'll say this once, and only once."

Y/n gulped, her body tensing up.

Ferid looked over to the bush.

"I know the six of you are there," he smiled brightly, "So I expect you to listen."

Ferid sighed, "I am feeling rather kind today, and I just got my dear Y/n healed. I don't feel like risking her health again. You run along now, and no one gets killed," he explained, before his voice lowered considerably, and became much more menacing, "Next time you won't be so lucky..."

After a few seconds, the humans stood up. Ferid and Guren had a little stare down before either said anything.

"Well," Ferid sighed exasperatedly, "Run along now," he made a motion with his hand for them to shoo.

"Why," Guren began, "Why are you doing this? What do you want with Y/n?"

"It doesn't matter what I want with Y/n," the vampire was starting to get agitated, "At least I don't let her get hurt every other week."

Shinya took that more personally than he should have.

"She isn't any safer with you, bloodsucker!" Yuichiro shouted.

"On the contrary, she is much safer. The only thing that could possibly hurt her now is you," Ferid stated, "I won't say it again. Leave, and don't come back."

After a few seconds and none of them moved, Y/n stepped in, before she knew her friends would be killed.

"Please," Y/n begged, standing at Ferid's side and holding onto the taller male's arm, "Just go. I'm fine. If you don't go, you'll get hurt. Just forget about me."

"But-!" Shinoa went to argue, but Y/n cut her off.

"Shinoa! Please, just go! It'll be fine!"

All the humans looked at each other, before they started running backwards, probably from where they came from. Guren took one last look behind him at the vampire noble.

"You better watch yourself, vampire," he hissed, "We will be back one day."

"I look forward to it," Ferid grinned, watching to make sure they truly left.

After several minutes, Y/n let her head rest against the vampire's upper arm.

Ferid looked down at his human, who he couldn't see the female's face, but he could tell that Y/n was pretty upset.

Ferid sighed, "Let's go inside."

Y/n nodded, letting go of Ferid and turning around. She was the first inside the manor rather quickly. The two went back up to their room, although Y/n was there probably a minute before Ferid made it and rushed into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.

Ferid arrived after Y/n had already gone into the bathroom. He stared at the closed door for a second, before going over to a wingback chair by the fireplace in the bedroom and sitting down as he waited for Y/n.

Ferid hummed as waited, sighing to himself.

After another minute, the noble could hear water running. A few seconds later and Y/n, as quiet as a church mouse left the bathroom.

"Are you alright?" Ferid asked when Y/n didn't say anything, but instead just sat down on the bed, facing away from Ferid.

Y/n shrugged her shoulders, "Still a bit tired, I guess..."

Ferid got up from the fancy chair and came over to sit behind Y/n on the bed, sliding his hand up and underneath Y/n's shirt to gently massage the girl's back.

"Is something else wrong?" Ferid whispered in Y/n's ear.

The h/c haired female leaned back into Ferid, "I just-" Y/n staggered, "I just can't believe my old colleagues would do that..."

"Tell me more," the silver haired male inquired.

"I dunno..." Y/n sighed, "I feel like I should have been comfortable, and happy to see them... but I wasn't. They just made me nervous... I felt like I was more in danger while they were there instead of safe... And I feel like I betrayed them, but I just couldn't be a soldier like they are..."

"Couldn't, or didn't want to?" Ferid asked softly, continuing to massage the sore spots on Y/n's back.

Y/n thought about it, "Both..." she mumbled, "I couldn't kill vampires...! I didn't have it in me... and I missed you so much," Y/n's voice started to crack, telling Ferid it was a good time to stop.

"Thats alright..." he gently kissed the side of Y/n's head, "And I missed you too... badly, when you were gone. I didn't know what those humans had done to you."

Y/n hummed, relaxing more into Ferid's body behind her.

Y/n unintentionally let out a small laugh at a thought going through her mind after a minute.

"What?" Ferid asked with a small smile.

"I think I honestly saw you for the first time in so long I stopped working," Y/n joked about her own bad time, "So much had happened and was happening that I literally shut down like a computer."

Ferid let out his own little chuckle at Y/n's words, "Well, that's an interesting way of looking at it."

"It's true though," Y/n giggled, "Y/n had stopped functioning. I needed a reboot."

The progenitor shook his head, "Your ridiculous."

After a bit Y/n's light laughter died down and she hummed, "I'm much happier to be back here..."

"I'm much happier your back," Ferid sighed with content.

This life was much better and easier than being a soldier. That was for sure.
