Walking down the sidewalk my mind was racing and I couldn't keep up.

"Why had-, what if-, important call-, where-, when would- what about-"

"Watch it!" Someone yelled.

I looked around to see a big crowd of people. "Sorry." I muttered under my breath.

"Can you see him?" Someone asked.

"Oh, I hope I can get a picture!"

"I want to see!"

"There he is!"

I heard everyone yelling over each other trying to, I assumed, see someone. "If it is someone big or important, leave whoever it is alone! They probably have their own life to live." I thought, trying to push past the crowd of people, which was quickly growing.

Suddenly the crowd was walking away. And walking away pretty quickly. I turned to see that everyone, mostly young females, were running down the street following a car.

"Weirdos." I said under my breath. I pulled out my phone and plugged in my headphones. Walking down the sidewalk, I zoned out into my own world hurrying to get back to my apartment.

---

The elevator door opened and I walked across the hall towards my apartment door. Standing outside the door I looked to my right over to Wes's door.

"Maybe he's there." I thought.

I walked over to his door and knocked.

And waited.

Nothing.

I knew that the apartment wasn't the biggest, so I assumed he wasn't there. I walked back to my door, unlocked it and went inside. I sat down on the couch, trying to think of what to do with the rest of my day.

I reached inside my pocket for my earbuds when I felt something that wasn't my earbuds. I pulled the object out and saw that it was the note Wes had given me. Opening it up, I read it again. And again. I read it a few times.

After rereading the note a few times, I pulled out my phone and entered Wes's name and number into my contacts and opened a new text.

Wes

Arline-

Hey, it's Arline. We went out for

a meal earlier today. Sorry if

this is a wrong number. You did

say to call, but I thought that

this might be alright for now. :)

Sent at 1:27pm

I sent the text and went over to the kitchen. Making myself some soup for a late lunch I sat at the table and turned on the television. Flipping through the channels, I didn't see anything interesting, so I turned off the tele and pulled out my phone.

I opened the text I had sent to Wes and I saw that it had changed to 'Read at 1:54pm' but no response.

"I wonder if I got the wrong number." I said out loud to myself.
