Prologue:
Trailing him from work today, after 5 weeks of watching his every move, it waited for him. It only needed another one every 3 months or so. Stopping at Wild Willows Avenue, it looked longingly at its prey, Of course hiding was optional, it could only be seen under certain conditions , these conditions weren't known to more than a handful of people. It just felt more exciting. The Moon was full in the sky, making the air very auspicious.
He finally reached home close to 10. He had to work the late shift on a Saturday. Passing the oak tree that grew next to his house. He opened and locked up his small house on Helshire Boulevard and did the regular, nothing extra. Probably due to his excessive fatigue. It expected that he would be in this state, tired and vulnerable, easy. He looked like a hobo on his last. It was already celebrating.
After waiting for him to fall asleep, it was simple to get in through the window. It melted into the darkness. There it marveled at its hard work. It crept up behind him. In the dark of his room, blending in wasn't hard. It licked it's lips, savoring the thought of the meal in front it. It reached the side of his bed, looming over it.Casting shadows on the bed, it produced 7 talons on each tentacle, sharp and no doubt lethal. Its breath slowed, heart racing as it moved closer to him. Enjoying his need for a shower and the cuts and bruises he had suffered at work.
Everything was right in place, just not for it. As in leaned in for the kill, a bullet from a 2011 customized Dragonov flashed through its chest and another followed through its forehead. As of that wasn't enough, it felt a hot blade invade its back. It cursed its foolish indulgence as it was sent back to the pits of hell.
The man with the knife muttered an incantation as he cleaned the remains of the demon from the knife. The man who fired the gun lay in the tree. The man just turned on his sleep, too tired to witness what just happened in his room. He didn't need to be part of the plan anymore.
The brothers meet up outside.
"Great job, bro! ", Dante held up his hand for a high five.
"Another one bites the dust!", Patrik grinned easily, enjoying the kill they just orchestrated.
"Where to next?", the enthusiasm pumping through Dante.
He liked killing things, it just made him feel good. From ever since he was small, he'd have his fill of watching things just die.
The moon looked down from its throne of silver, casting shadows throughout the neighborhood as they walked back to the car.
Getting into the car, Patrik rode shotgun first as usual. The dark hood of the Chevrolet pickup blending into the night. They drove off in silence, careful not to use the brake lights.
Turning into the highway was a piece of cake, there was hardly any traffic at this hour.
They had most of their tools in the pickup but it was a shame what happened next.
