"What do I wear? What do I wear?" I stressed throwing clothes out of my closet and onto the floor behind meI checked the clock behind me and saw Mike would be arriving in just under half an hour. This caused me to rush faster and then I found something. Something that worked. Comfy and cute. Some black shorts and a band-tee. I threw on some tennis shoes and my tote bag. Since my makeup and hair was already done I went out into my kitchen and sat on the island counter. I sat there on my phone for a few minutes before I heard a knock at my door.
My heart beat faster and a took a moment to calm myself down. After this, I threw my bag in the crook of my elbow and answered the door. I looked up and was met with Mike. He was wearing some grey sweats and a sweatshirt. In his hand he held a sweater. He held the sweater out to me and I took his from his hand before he explained.
"If you get cold."
"Thanks."I looked back up at him
It was awkward for a moment or two before the conversation started. I closed my apartment door and locked it before throwing my keys in my bag. As we walked, Mike offered me his arm, which I took. A light blush covered covered my face as he opened his car door for me. I watched as he walked around and started the car.
"So, where are we off to?" I asked looking over at him
"You'll see."
"Ugh! I hate surprises!" I laughed
We laughed and talked before I could realize we were driving out of the city. As the sky grew darker, I got more curious as we drove into the country. Suddenly, Mike pushed a button and the top off his car went sliding down. I didn't know he had a convertible! The warm June air hit my face as I looked over at Mike with complete surprise! He looked over and laughed at me expression. He reached over and grabbed my hand. He laced our fingers together and again, a blush covered my face.
Finally, Mike pulled into a field with a bunch of other cars. And, a giant projector screen. I gasped lightly as he parked the car right in the middle. He reached behind him and opened a cooler. He pulled out two cokes and two ice-cream popsicles.
"Mikey! You didn't! A drive-in movie?"
"I figured this way we could still talk. Y'know at an actual theatre you can't." He scratched the back of his neck
"So, what movie are we seeing?" I took a bite out of my ice cream
"Tangled." He answered looking over at me
"My favorite!" I mumbled happily
Just then, the projector started playing and the opening music turned on. Mike and I had moved into the backseat and he had slung his arm around my neck pulling me closer. I leaned my back onto his chest with content.
"So how long have you been into me for?" He asked me quietly
"I- since rehearsals." I mumbled embarrassed
"Huh? What was that?" He smiled
"Since rehearsals." I said in a tone he could hear
"Ah. Me too." What?
"What?"
"I said; me too."
"Oh."
. . .
The movie has ended and we had learned a lot about each other. Sadly, we arrived back at my apartment door. I turned towards him. I leaned against my door and Mike took a step forward,
"Thank you for tonight." I said
"Ah, it's nothing."
"So is this where you kiss me?"
He laughed and raised his hand to cup my cheek. I went up on my tip-toes to reach his lips. Suddenly, he took his lips in mine and put his other hand on my waist pulling me closer. I kissed back and wrapped my arms around his neck. The kiss was soft but passionate. Mike tasted off mint and chocolate. After a few moments, Mike pulled back and set his forehead on mine.
"I had a great time tonight." He said to me
"Me too."
"When will I see you again?" He took his forehead off mine and backed away a pace
"Buy a ticket to my show." I replied back and entered my apartment
I closed the door behind me but exited again and saw him a few paces down the hair chuckling softly. I walked towards him and brought my hand to his check. I pressed my lips to his quickly. And ran back to my apartment. He turned around surprised with a smile.
"Bye Mikey!" I called out
"Bye Jocey." He did the same
