A glance can say everything

Class started in 10 minutes and Nolwenn was almost there, she couldn't wait to see her friends' faces when she'd arrive early. She always had trouble being on time, but Physics wouldn't wait for her.

Nolwenn was currently in her first-year degree course which focused on sciences. It'd been 3 months since the year started, and she'd been handling her new life like a pro. She had her own apartment, and was more independent than ever. She loved living in a big city, where she could go anywhere she wanted at any time. It definitely changed from her hometown : as her parents lived in a small village, cows were her only neighbors and there was nothing but fields around her.

She had grown up a lot since she started college. She was officially an adult, as she recently turned 18. Her mom had got her grating pink salts for her birthday, which is probably the weirdest gift anyone can get, but she was proud of her present.

However, the most exciting thing about college was meeting new people and Nolwenn got lucky, she made a bunch of friends. They even had matching friendship bracelets that Louna made. Those two knew each other since high school, they used to dance, play badminton or even do weight training together. They were in the same group for PE, but still saw each other out of this class.

Louna was very funny  (or not so funny if you ask Nolwenn) and an honest person. She made terrible jokes that nobody understood, but it was alright because she made herself laugh and that was the most important.

Louna met one of her best friends, Eloise, at college. Physically, they were opposites : one was tall and blonde with blue eyes while the other had short, dark hair, brown eyes and was below the average size for a woman. But that's where most of their differences stopped. They had the same hobbies, same addiction to AO3 and needed their bedtime fan fictions to go to sleep. They both liked the same shows and had the same content on social media.

That's why they became close quickly and were now attached to the hip. If you want to find Eloise, search for Louna, she will know where she is. That meant Louna knew how Eloise would react to different people, and that's why she was deeply troubled by what she saw when she arrived in class that day.

"Hi!" Louna said, taking a seat next to Eloise.

"What are you doing here so early, Eloise ? We were supposed to bet on when you would arrive." Louna declared, surprised to see her.

" Well, I was ready in advance, so I decided to come early" Nolwenn answered, holding out her hand to do their hand check, it was their way of greeting each other.

"Ah yeah, sorry I forgot" Louna said, clapping Nolwenn's hand.

" Schproutch schproutch, higidigidi, hiyohuca !" They said in unison. Their hand check was a bit vocal, but they loved it.

Then, Nolwenn and Eloise got back to their previous conversation about yesterday's football game while Louna waited for their other friends to come. She wasn't interested at all in football or any sport of that sort. So she was just half listening to their discussion. That's when she noticed the second weird thing about this morning.

Eloise and Nolwenn were looking at each other, so far, nothing out of the ordinary. But the look in Eloise's eyes was not normal. She was looking at her like she was a goddess who just appeared on earth.

It was intense yet so soft, it almost looked like she was in love, but that's not possible she thought, they've known each other for almost two months, you can't fall in love that quickly. Unless...

"Oh no !" Louna said, surprising everyone including herself. She hadn't meant to speak aloud, but her discovery made so much sense.

    "Everything's alright?" Nolwenn asked.

" Yep, I was thinking, and I just remembered that I have to do groceries this afternoon. And I really don't want to do it" Louna lied, hoping nobody would find out she wasn't telling the truth even though she wasn't really lying ; her fridge was almost empty.

After that, they got back to talking and then their friends finally arrived, as did the teacher. Class thus started and Louna found herself incapable of focusing during the hour. She could only think about that glance. It meant so much, she found herself wondering how she didn't see it before. It was obvious that Eloise had a crush on Nolwenn.

Honestly, she could understand why. Nolwenn was really good-looking, she had an amazing smile, really long dark hair that shone with the sun. Anyone could get lost in her dark brown eyes. She was also one of the nicest people she knew, always there to help. That being said, Louna didn't have a crush on Nolwennig. She just knew how to appreciate beauty, and she was a lesbian, which explained a lot.

She just felt a bit bad for Eloise because she had a crush on a heterosexual person and her feelings might never be returned. Not only that, but she hoped she wouldn't be hurt too much by this, especially since Nolwennig and her had what's called a love-hate relationship. Nolwenn would often make fun of her, but that was just her way of saying 'I love you'. So, Louna was scared that she might get offended if her crush made jokes about her. Nolwenn was still nice to her, of course, she wasn't a bad person. But it was possible that Eloise might focus too much on the jokes, and Louna didn't want her to be sad because she knew that Nolwenn loved her. It was Platonic, but it was better than nothing.

Well, before speculating more, she had to make sure that she didn't imagine all this. It would be really embarrassing to be that delusional. So for now, Louna decided to wait and see whatever happened between the two of them. She would ask Eloise, but wasn't sure that she would be honest with her if her only argument was just a glance she saw.
