Not long before Christmas, Mum had asked me to get Elsa from school and bring her back to the factory. I went to get her and when we got back there was a note on the door saying
Isla just gone to get Bella from Michelle. will be back ASAP. Go inside and wait for me.
I went in with Elsa, the lights were off in the main factory but on in the office so we went in. I sat down at mums desk and started to play on my phone while Elsa sat on my lap watching me. After about ten minutes, I text Mum to ask her where she was. She replied saying: Close up the factory and meet me on the street and we will go home. I got Elsa up off my lap and got off the chair. I picked Elsa up before switching of the lights and leaving the office. I locked the door behind me and went down the steps. I walked down the pavement and met Mum outside Audrey's. "did you lock up?" Mum asked and I nodded. "did you do the alarm?" She asked. "oh no sorry I forgot,do you want me to go do it?" I said. "no don't worry you take the girls home and I will be there in a bit." she said and handed me bella's bag and walked back down the pavement. Bella signalled to pick her up with her arms so I did and I held onto Elsa's hand. when we got to the doors of the flats I put in the code and went inside. I put Bella down and said "belle and el start walking up the stairs." she did. I waited for a while to see if mum was coming but when I heard the girls shouting my name from our floor, I went up.

When we got inside the flat, I sent Bella and Elsa to watch TV. I put Elsa and Bella's chicken nuggets and chips were in the oven. I got out a ready made lasagne for Mum for when she got home. Mum is not a good cook so this was another one of those nights that we had ready meals.

When Bella and I were done I got my phone out and text her asking her where she was. I didn't get a reply. I got Elsa and Bella in their pyjamas and put Bella to bed. Elsa and I sat on the sofa.

we had been sitting there watching TV for about 45 minutes, when the door burst open and Mum came in. "where have you been?" I asked as she shut the door. "factory. right Elsa shall we get you to bed? Is Bella asleep?" She said "yeah and Elsa is ready" I answered. Mum took elsa into her room and ten minutes later she came out and poured herself a glass of red wine. she sat down on the sofa next to me. "what really happened? You have a cut on your face. who hit you?" I asked. "it was Tracy" "tracy Barlow" I asked and Mum nodded. "she was angry about rob and she threw a chair through a window in underworld, she trashed my office and she slapped my and her ring caught my face. that's what the scratch is. she just doesn't know how to take her anger out." she as she got up leaving her wine on the coffee table. she went to the kitchen counter and scrambled around in her bag. she pulled out a picture frame and came to sit back down. she showed me the picture. it was smashed but behind the layer of smashed glass. it was a picture of Mum and dad when I was born in the hospital. Liam and Michelle were in the picture and grandma and grandad. as I looked down Mum looked up at me. I looked her she had tears in her eyes and I could tell why. "everyone leaves me Isla. your dad, tony, Liam, Peter, rob" she said continuing to cry. "I don't." as I said it she collapsed into my arms and cried. "the ice queen has melted but at least we know she has a heart." I said and she giggled a bit. "you know you will always have me and those two little girls in there. you and me are all they have and they love you more than anything." she smiled and I hugged her again. "I love you Isla Connor" she said "love you too Carla Connor"I said and she giggled.
