I sat in the back of the classroom. Someone, something, had tapped my shoulder. I turned around turning my chair with me. Something pushed me forcefully out of my chair. I hit my head on the table behind me, I crawled backward down the narrow isle separating the tables from the cabinets along the walls.
I managed to stumble to my feet and run from the room away from the mass if black soul that surrounded, I don't know! Nothing! It followed behind me.
"Why are you running my little robin? I just want to speak with you." Said the figure as it whooshed around trying to catch me.
Screw talking! I thought as a ran to the end of the hall. The guidance councillor should be able to help...
I ran to Miss. Matthews room and slammed the door behind me. Quick to catch my breath, I spoke as she approached me,
"C-can I-I stay in here for a while? I'm panic-" Miss. Matthews cut me off.
"Dearest? What have you done? Your head is bleeding?" He concern in her voice over grew my head like untended grape vines. Damn, I must have done that when I hit my head on the table...
"Dearest we should probably get you to the nurse."
"NO!" I objected "anything but going back out there..."
She looked dumbfounded "okay okay honey, lay down, I'll ask Lydia to come up. She'll get your head wrapped up." I nodded laying on the small grey cot the sat in the corner of the bright white room. Miss. Matthews flicked the lights off, the room went dim. I didn't want her to leave but I didn't want to sound COMPLETELY insane! I closed my eyes hoping the figure wouldn't return to me.
Someone tapped my shoulder again. I jumped back hitting against the wall beside me. Thank god it was Lydia... If that thing had come back I don't know what I'd do.
She looked at me with that same look that Miss. Matthews gave me when I entered her office.
"Jasmine, what did you do this time?" She pulled a piece of gauze out of the bag she had brought with her. She held it underneath the wound on my head and pour a bit of peroxide on the cut. I bit my lip and squeezed my knees at the deep burning sensation that shoved its way through my nerves up to the top of my forehead. She wiped the remaining liquid off my head.
"I don't think you need stitches but be careful..." Lydia scolded. She placed a large square of gauze over the injury and held it there until she finished wrapping my head in a small roll of thin gauze, used to hold the square in place. I felt like I looked like on of those cliche movie guys who hit their head and woke up in the hospital with their heads wrapped not remembering what they did.
"Just relax here until the period is over Jaz, then I want you to try and head back to class" Lydia knows how I am, always injuring myself.
I nodded softly closing my eyes, I went out like a light."Jasmine." I wanted to groan and turn away but something wouldn't let me. I looked down a long corridor and turned around to where the voice appeared. The figured stood right in front of me, I turned to run away just to find a wall placed in front of my path. I spun back around screaming as the black mass entered my lungs.
I woke up... my breathing was heavy and my eyes were blurry.
Miss. Matthews jolted up from her desk and shuffled over to me.
I wasnt prepared for this...
