Marion

"Now it's time for grade 12 to shine after waiting for so long," Ms. Brown announced with a chuckle at the end.

I crossed my arms in front of my chest. I looked to my side to find Jacqueline let out a deep sigh. We have been sitting in these chairs for an hour straight. Now that the Academic Awards are finally on 12th grade, we were relieved.

Jacqueline nudged my elbow. "Are you nervous now?"

"Hell nah. Why would I be nervous for?" I answered confidently.

"Hahaha, that's my sassy Marion right there."

Then Mr. Bob, our math teacher. came up the stage. Ms. Brown handed the mic to him.

"The highest score for AP Statistics, Marion Huxley," He spoke to the microphone loud and clear.

Everyone hands started clapping once he mentioned my name. I walked up to the stage to receive the award paper.

Austin

Gosh, it's always her.
Can she be any more perfect?

"Wow, seems like Marion is never going down the stage," commented Julian, my homie. "She's been getting 4 awards in a row."

"Not for long," I said.

"Next up, we have the highest score for AP Language. Give it up for Austin Williams!" Ms. Ribbens announced.

I got up from my seat. "Told ya, man."

Julian laughed.

Marion

As soon as I saw those brown messy hair when I walked passed Austin, my mood went down.

I must be on my period.

I just have some weird reaction towards Austin whenever I'm on my period. I would always hate him. Don't get me wrong. We have nothing against each other. I barely talk to anyone else other than Jacqueline. I only know Austin as Sophia's boyfriend, the popular girl in school.

"Hey, can you check on me?" I whispered to Jacqueline and faced my back on her before sitting down.

"You're good. Why? Did you get pissed on Austin again?" Jacqueline asked.

I nodded.

"You should go to the bathroom to check," Jacqueline suggested. "You know it's always accurate."

I agreed, "Will do after we're done."

"You better go no—" Jacqueline couldn't finish her sentence.

"The next class is AP Chemistry which goes to Marion Huxley once again," Mr. Will spoke.

I forced a smile, "See?"

Finally the ceremony ended. I went to the bathroom to check if I was on my period or not. Jacqueline came with me just in case.

"So?" she asked after I went inside the bathroom for a minute.

"Yeah, can I have my pads?" I said to her from behind the bathroom door.
