The man patted me on the head, "Don't panic, we'll arrive soon, and the council will make sure you're taken care of."

"What is the council? Why have you kidnapped me?" I needed answers. This man was apparently taking me to another freaking planet. That alone was enough to break my brain, but add in all the council and kidnapping nonsense and I might just go insane if I didn't make sense of it.

The man chuckled, "You'll find out soon enough." He turned to the side and rampaged in one of the metal cart's drawers. He had something in his hand and was bring it toward me. I did my best to scoot away, but only managed to painfully press myself against the restraints. My previous injuries stung from the contact.

The man chuckled again, "I'd forgotten how skittish humans are. Thought I suppose it makes sense , your kind is so easily broken."

What did he mean 'my kind'? Was he something other? He looked just like any other human.

His eyes met mine. Goosebumps erupted along my arms. Something about the way he was looking at me…

The man broke eye contact and chuckled. He attached the thing in his hand to my arm.  I realized it was only a blood pressure cuff.

I relaxed and stayed that way as it started to squeeze, but then it got tighter, and tighter, so tight that it was painful.

"It hurts! Take it off."

The man chuckled, "Don't be so dramatic, it's only taking your blood pressure."

The cuff continued to tighten. My eyes began to water from the pain.

There was a snap, my arm exploded in pain. I screamed out and bucked. My vision blurred. Somewhere distant I was aware of the cuff being removed from my arm. The man sighed. There was a small pain in my opposite arm. Everything began to fade.

My last thought was of the man, claiming he needed me in perfect condition, then injuring my arm with seemingly no worry. What was going on? Had the man really thought the cuff wouldn't hurt me?

And then my mind slipped away into darkness.
