It was not easy being the favoured child. To harbor resentment from her siblings as well as console her parents grief.

Amira was very sickly as a child. Always prone to fevers and infections. She was scrawny and weak. Unable to join her elder siblings in their quests and activities. Always too sick and tired. She would sleep away her life. That's how she'd always hoped she die -- peaceful, in her sleep. No one had ever expected it would be her baby brother, Henrik who died before her.

Quickly, Amira's health changed for the better. Colour had begun to show in her cheeks again. The black beneath her eyes lessened. Her lips pinkened. It was strange that in the death of her brother, Amira seemed to find life. But she would not be able to enjoy her own.

With her mother and father hovering, always worried, always wondering how long this wind of health would last them. It could have very well been a fluke. They'd seen it plenty with the plague in the past years. Before death, someone may have a last jolt of life. Sometimes it lasted mere hours, other times, an entire season.

Amira Mikaelson was turned into a vampire on the day of her 16th year of life. Never again would she age. Never would she die.

At first, Amira enjoyed the idea of immortality. Having been a frail and sickly child she quite liked her newfound strengths. The promise of health and power overpowered the small whispers of doubts cast in her head by her siblings.

They did not understand. Amira had never been healthy. Never been able to do as she pleased. Her bed was the only place she'd been. Now she could run, be free. There would be no more confining her with sickness and frailty.

But that was just pretending. Real life was much crueler.
