A Betrayal Unveiled
It was finally my sixteenth birthday, and I couldn't contain my excitement. Today was the day I had been eagerly waiting for, hoping to find my mate, the person meant just for me. Mason Falcon, my boyfriend for the past three years, was the one I secretly wished would turn out to be my perfect match.
As my birthday party kicked off, the enormous Pac Mansion was buzzing with energy. Colorful decorations adorned every corner, and my friends and family gathered to celebrate with me. But deep down, a mix of anticipation and nerves fluttered in my stomach.
"Happy birthday, Ava!" Amy, my cousin and confidante, exclaimed over the loud music, handing me a beautifully wrapped gift. "Sweet sixteen, girl!"
I grinned and hugged her tightly. "Thanks, Amy! This is going to be an unforgettable night."
Amy nudged me playfully. "Who knows? Maybe your mate will show up and sweep you off your feet. It's time for some magical surprises!" She squealed, taking a sip of her martini as we danced back to our table after some serious dancing.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as I scanned the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mason. "Yeah, I hope so. That would be amazing."
I said, my blush turning into a radiant smile as I snagged my own cocktail from a waiter's tray. "Mmm! This mimosa is amazing!"I said, setting the elegant stem where onto our table. I tried my best to keep my poi's, hiding the worry that ate at me as I greeted people, accepting gifts with warm, grateful smiles.
As the night wore on, Mason's absence became more noticeable. An uneasy feeling settled in, and I decided to confide in Amy."Amy, have you seen Mason anywhere?" I asked, worry creeping into my voice.
Amy furrowed her brow, scanning the crowd. "Now that you mention it, I haven't seen him in a while. And where's Grace? They're usually attached at the hip."
Dread gripped my heart. "Do you think... they're together?"
Amy's eyes widened with concern. "I hope not, girl... Let's go check upstairs, just to make sure."
Nodding, we weaved through the lively partygoers, making our way up the grand staircase. With each step, my apprehension grew, my heart pounding in my chest, growing louder in my ears as the music faded and my mind was flooded with dreadful thoughts.
As we climbed, faint sounds reached my ears. Strange noises. Moans. My breath caught, and I exchanged a worried glance with Amy. We quickened our pace, following the sounds until they led us to Mason's bedroom.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door, and my world shattered into a million pieces. Mason and Grace were tangled on the bed, his arms around her as he made love to her. Quickly, Grace covered herself with the red satin sheets, their guilty faces a painful betrayal I couldn't ignore.
A gasp escaped my lips, and anger surged through me. Without thinking, my hand shot out, delivering a resounding slap across Grace's face. Mason, in shock, pushed Grace away and scrambled to get dressed.
Tears streamed down my face as I trembled with hurt. "How could you do this, Mason? I trusted you!"
Mason's voice trembled with regret. "Ava, please, I'm so sorry. It was a mistake, a terrible mistake. I love you. Please forgive me."
But his pleas fell on deaf ears as I turned away, unable to bear his presence any longer. Turning to Grace, I glared fiercely at her. "How dare you pretend to be my friend... I trusted you and you turned out to be nothing but a slut."I yelled. Grabbing her cheek in pain, Grace turned away from me, a triumphant smirk plastered on her face as she tried to pull Mason back to her. "Baby where are you going?"she asked, clutching the sheets around her to keep them from slipping off. Unable to hear anymore and forgetting that my cousin was in the room, The pain slicing through my heart as I stormed out of their, seeking solace in the quiet sanctuary of the garden.
In the midst of my despair, an indescribable sensation washed over me. It felt like a mixture of the most searing of pains, yet, the most exquisite of tingly shockwaves of electric current pulsing through my veins. Suddenly, my human form transformed into that of a stunning white wolf. It was then that Sapphire, my wolf companion, spoke in my mind, eager to be my new best friend and support.
"Don't worry, Ava. We'll get through this together," Sapphire's soft, misty voice echoed within me, offering comfort and strength.
With newfound determination, I made my way back to the party, my heart a mix of resilience and vulnerability. Tonight, was still mine and I will enjoy it despite my heartache. I danced, laughed and drank, temporarily forgetting that a big part of me was left broken and wounded.
