"Would you stop being so miserable and actually look mildly happy?" Kiri asked, clearly annoyed.

Y/n opened her mouth to speak, but paused. She didn't really have a good answer. So instead, she forced a smile.

"You look like you're about to throw up," Kiri said.

Jake gave Kiri a look, and she rolled her eyes, but stayed quiet. Y/n chuckled softly, and a slight smile appeared on her face. Kiri, Lo'ak, and Tuk all stared at Y/n in surprise.

"You have such a pretty smile," Tuk grinned, and Y/n chuckled softly.

"Not as pretty as yours," Y/n managed, mustering an attempt to be friendly.

It seemed to have worked, too, as Tuk was beaming. The little girl's face was all scrunched up thanks to the beaming smile spreading across her face. Her yellow eyes sparkled in delight as she took off one of her bracelets. Y/n raised an eyebrow.

"Here, Y/n, this is for you!" Tuk grinned, holding out the bracelet over the table.

"I couldn't take that from you, Tuk," Y/n smiled softly, shaking her head. To the Na'vi, clothing and jewelry are both extremely symbolic. Most Na'vi handcraft their own jewelry, with Tsahìk and Olo'eyktan having their own unique garments symbolic of their status. However, Tuk just smiled and waved the bracelet around.

"I made it for you! I see you all shy and hide-y around here and I thought maybe you needed a friend! And even if you didn't want one, that would be my way of saying that if you ever change your mind, I'll be here!"

Tuk's innocent brightness took Y/n slightly off-guard. Not many people had shown her this kind of kindness. Suddenly, she felt eyes on her. Many eyes. Neytiri, concerned for Tuk, and how Y/n's response would affect her. Kiri, silently fuming and judging the outcast for her reclusiveness. Lo'ak, enjoying the show. Jake, a little proud of his little daughter. Ronal, expecting Y/n to say the worst. And Tonowari, taking pride in Y/n finally branching out.

Y/n took the bracelet, and put it on her ankle, as it was too big for her wrist. "Thank you, Tuktir- Tuk. Thank you," Y/n said, a real smile on her face.

Tuk giggled bashfully.

Dinner concluded and all helped clean up, before the people went about their business. Y/n walked along the beach, but Tonowari and Ronal were nowhere to be seen. She sighed in annoyance. No doubt they had purposefully hidden themselves away, encouraging their daughter to interact with the Sully children. Y/n hissed in annoyance and disgust. How dare they force her to speak with them. She exhaled heavily and pinched the bridge of her nose. It just seemed so unfai-

"LO'AK YOU SKXAWNG GET BACK HERE!" (Skxawng = moron, idiot)

Y/n's eyes widened in surprise and she spun around, only to see Lo'ak sprinting at full force, grinning from ear to ear. Y/n yelped and dashed to the side to avoid him running into her, only to yell again as Kiri slammed into her. The two girls fell to the ground.

"I-I'm sorry," Y/n started, but Kiri already scrambled to her feet, and began to chase Lo'ak again.

"YOU'RE SO PÌSAW, KIRI!" (Pìsaw = clumsy, accident-prone)

"SHUT UP VONVÄ'!" (Vonvä' = asshole, dickhead)

Y/n chuckled a little, covering her mouth. Still, a little part of her, just a tiny bit, couldn't help but be jealous of the bond Kiri and Lo'ak shared. Sure, they swore and cursed and punched and bit each other, but at least they had a bond. Y/n swallowed as she thought of Ao'nung and Tsireya.

Perhaps... perhaps it's time I spoke to them again, Y/n thought, as she gazed at the silhouettes of Kiri and Lo'ak under the illumination of the moon.
