Death, no music

Rain
Seeping in
Falling fast
Doorway open
Rushing
Filling
Flooding
Draining away with all it took
The breath of the inhabitants

Full hamper
Overflowing
Sloth
Darkness
No reason
No need
It builds
But never breaks
Enduring waiting for relief that will never to come
The owner of the clothes
Gone

———
Caesar

Trust and power
Legacy and dreams
Past and future
Suspicion and envy
Marble towers
Domed houses
Senate floors
White marble stained red
Pooling, dyeing
Seeping into the cracks of power
A breaking statue
Betrayal
Shattered friendship
Coups and corruption
Unable to wash out such stains
"Et tu, Brute?"
Daggers
Steel into flesh
Power and peace bleeding away

——————-
Kites

——
Trust

An abused child
A beaten dog
Returning to its owner
Tired
Enduring
Relentless
Malleable
Broken

——
Smoke

Embers
Sickness
Relief
Freedom through further entrapment
Costs build
Thoughts blur
Numbness spreads
The fire burns beneath the flesh
Eventually all fires die without oxygen to feed them

—————
Lost Toys

Cars in the sand
Dolls on parks
Bracelets in the grass
Long forgot
Dreams all the same
Lost to time
Age

————
Cherry cola
Salty tears
Hands together
Trembling
Crumpled can

—————
Letters

Ink and parchment
Words in lines
Left unread

——-
Broken Watch

Shifting hands
Time told wrong
Speaking lies

——
Legacy

Sprawling red roofs
Pristine pillars
Temples and gold
Sacrifices and emblems
Banners and conquests
Left to ruins
Stains of the past
Pillars to dust
Borders vanished
Nothing remains

———
Birthday

Deflated balloons
Another year gone
Reminders of failings
Nothing achieved
Guilt.

——
Blue Jeans

Holes in pockets
Torn fabric
Scraped knees
Buried the next week
Concussion

Deceit -
White lie
Grand schemes
Habitual
Trust in belief
Pray to be found out
Paralyzing fear

Car crash-
Wheels turning
Leaning too far
Too fast
Metal twisting upon metal
Skid marks
Nine dead
Skid marks
All that remains

[]

You shine like gold
Despite the embers
Glittering on your fore
You are beauty
Through the fire
As a phoenix soars
You are strength
As you remain standing
You are mine
With love I am unable to hold
You are beauty

A poem of despair

Almost
Empty
Blank
Yet
Had
Was
Nearly
Lost
Forgotten
None
Alone

Empty bottles
Nay a drop
Bruises

Observer
Watching all
Every story
Every plotline
All the drama
Entertaining
And yet
Entirely isolated
Unable to change anything
Nothing more than a narrator
No story of my own
No life of my own
I see everything
I hear everything
I cannot change
I cannot feel
I cannot care
I just watch
Painstakingly
Forever
Unable to be seen
Unable to experience

I just want to feel your flesh and hold you.
I don't care if it's covered in scars or dry and rough
I would hold you if you were sandpaper or broken glass
I would kiss you if it made me bleed
I love you
I want to be close to you
I want my skin to warm yours and yours to warm mine
Despite the deep cold within each of us

The Greeks were right
Time consumes all it fathers
Corrupts it
Consumes it
And for you I would be consumed forever
If I had you for the same eternity

Sacrifices, sacrifices
To gods and mothers alike
Parents and gods one in the same
And yet both are flawed
Both demand sacrifice
At what point do you live for them
Or yourself?
Have any of us ever been born or lived for ourselves?
Should we?
