Dorinda Clark-Knowles POV
"Dorinda?! Girl, put that phone down and come help us get these groceries! They're heavy!" One of my sisters yelled from outside. I just knitted my eyebrows and flicked my wrist, continuing to text my wife. "Dorinda Grace!"
"I'm coming, damn it! Leave me alone.." I mumbled as I sent my lengthy text message, putting my phone down.
Taking a few deep breaths, I cracked my knuckles and made my way outside. Walking out, Karen was leaned against the side of the truck with her hand on her hips.
"Well, it's about time you get out here. We need you to grab those few cases of water," She said and I just walked past her, grabbing one before I walked back inside. Walking past the couch, I heard my phone ding twice causing me to roll my eyes and walk right past it. She can most definitely wait. "Jacky?!" Karen yelled.
"Karen?!" Jacky yelled back.
"What time did you schedule for everyone to be here?"
"I had the time set for 4:00pm but knowing how black folk are, we can really get this thing started at 5:30pm," She said while I walked past them, going back outside to get the last case of water.
Closing down the trunk, I walked back into the house and closed the door, walking into the kitchen. Putting the case down on top of the other, I leaned back up and blew a hard breath, moving my hair from out of my face. I was stressed, irritated and hot. Bad Trio. While her and Karen were talking about whatever they were talking about, I walked back into the living room and sat in the love seat, looking over my nails. I needed something else done to them.
"Hold that thought, Jack. What's wrong, Doe?" I hear Karen ask. I shook my head and frowned my lips, never looking away from my nails. "Something has to be wrong. You're sitting over there with a pouty face and your phone is going off like crazy," She said and I just shook my head, again.
"What'd that little girl do to piss you off, now?" Jacky asked and I looked up from my hands and looked into both of their faces. "You can deny all you want to, but I know when something is wrong and I know when she is the cause," She said. I dropped my head. "Now, speak up and return back to our loud and bubbly Doe Doe. I don't like to see you, like this,"
"Yeah. Me neither," Karen added and I just sighed.
The both of them came over to my side as I sat there, trying to get myself together. Karen rubbed my back as Jacket kneeled down, grabbing my hands.
Taking another deep breath, I looked into their worried faces. "She keeps bugging me about this whole coming out to the public thing,"
"Still?" They asked at the same time. I nodded, looking down. "I thought you guys already discussed that," Karen said.
"Me too. Years ago, at that," Said Jacky.
"We did, but once she saw that Jan and Toni came out, she started back up with it and has been bothering me, ever since,"
