▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️My heels clicked against the ground, echoing as I rushed towards the display board for the planes. *Ring* *Ring* my phone began to ring, I answered my phone My eyes looked forward at the lit up letters Infront of me, the white light on the screen read ' Miami flight delayed '. Great I mumbled.
"What was that honey?" My dads voice came through my phone.
"Oh nothing dad, how come your calling?" I hushed.
"I wanted to see if you were alright, you know youve been under quite alot of stress recently" he spoke softly. I sighed, my finger stoking my temple, he'd always ask me if I was alright even after id say I was okay.
"Yes dad, I'm fine" I reassured his worry, well maybe not completely.
"Are you sure honey?" He repeated. Told you.
"Yes dad im fine, now I gotta go, I'll call you In the morning once I've landed" I rushed.
"Alright darling, I'll see you tomorrow love you"
"Love you too dad" I smiled.

My feet ached as I stood in queue, 'call me' by blondie playing through my ears which distracted me from the noises around me and the book of Dr Phil held in my hand using the only power my mind had left, until a yell was heard to usher people through the line, I moved forward following the lady Infront until I felt the pressure of my luggage hit her ankle, pulling my earphone out I spoke
"Oh I'm sorry" flashing a smile at the lady, a beige coat covered her shoulders and led down to her ankle, she wore a buttoned flowery patterned shirt with a baby pink vest underneath, her hair was grey and kept short just past her ears. And finally a pair of glasses lay on the top of her head.
"It's quite alright honey, travel is war these days" her voice sweetened.
I nodded in reply as she gestured towards the book in my hand,
"Oh I love him" her finger gently hitting the face of Dr Phil on the front page. "I work during the day so I alway miss his shows" she continued a sad grimace on her features.
I looked towards the book In my hand, I didn't need this, dad would end up buying me another 50 off them anyway. With a shrug of my shoulders I spoke up
"Oh, well here" I smiled at her, extending my arm to give her the book,
She began to argue at my kindness until I reassured her it was alright and practically shoved the book into her hand,
"So nice of you really, thank you" she grinned happily placing the book In her bag.
Another yell echoed, "anyone who is on the flight to Atlanta, if you wanna get out of Dallas tonight, come to the front of the line".
I heard the squeak of a man's voice as I turned my head to see a man complaining about his time and work. I watched as his face was pinkish the veins slightly popping out of his neck as he rudely spoke in her face. When I tell you I tried to hold my tounge, I really did try...
"Sir if you'd shut your mouth and stop yelling at the lady maybe we'd all get to where we'd need to be on time."
His pinkish face just went even redder at my statement as he turned to face me, "I don't think I was talking to you" he said to me like I was a child, anger rose inside of me as I looked at the pathetic "so called man" Infront of me.
"Sir I realise that but-" I got cut off as he tried to talk back to me but another voice cut in.
"Please, sir she's the only one standing between us getting out at all" the man spoke, his blue eyes calmy looking into the man's stressful ones.
The squeaky man spoke again but was cut off, by the grab of his wrist, I looked down the man's hand behind me gripping the man's besides me, his eyes narrowing.
"She's exhausted, she's worked 18 hours straight and she suspects we all hate her as much as you do, so what do you say we give her a break, let her get back to her job" he finished with a smile, waiting for the other man to break eye contact."This airline sucks" he muttered walking away.
The elderly lady Infront thanked us both as she trotted forward to check in, I turned around meeting the gaze of the man that had helped me. His hair was tidy, trimmed nicely, not much hair gel. A stubble travelling up his sharp jawline and down his neck hitting his Adams apple, his lips pink and his eyes a bright blue. The same eyes that were looking down at me right now.
"No problem just backup, you got the ball rowling" he said, his voice was deep not like the man from before.
"Yeh reflex I guess, I work at a hotel" I said making sure I don't tell him to much. He was handsome definitely but he gave off... How do I explain it, nervous feelings not the good kind.
Silence surrounded us, the beat through my earphones was loud, loud enough for the man to speak up.
"Blondie, huh?" He asked. I turned around at the sudden voice that was to close for comfort, "um yeah" I smiled awkwardly.
"Good band, a classic" responding to my awkwardness with ease. I smiled politely before turning back around. He hummed, his eyes narrowing, "you going Miami?" I nod and he continues "the delays long, but thats why God created the
Tex-Mex the best nachos in the airport""Good tip" I cautiously said trying to sound nice, as I turned my back to him.
"Save you a seat?" He said calmly,
"Oh, ughh" words wouldn't form out my mouth as he laughed at my awkwardness. He suddenly began to apologize if he entered my personal space, I cut him off as I reassured him he didn't until a woman's voice spoke,
"Ma'am I can take you over here" finally I smiled. Think of a lie you idiot.
"Sorry I have a few calls to make" I apologized. It's the best thing I could think of alright?
"Ahh no problem go ahead" he nodded.

My eyes darted from person to person until I saw him. He sat at the 'tex-mex' I stared as he sat there looking at everyone who walked past, blush faintly rised on my cheek as I reminded myself he was a stranger. A good looking one too.
I turned around but a chest hit me, coffee spilling down my shirt, the woman began to stutter words rolling over one another as she grabs tissues from her leather bag. Sorry fell out her mouth more times than I could count, I ushered her off politely, as soon as I uttered the word 'fine' she ran off screaming for her husband to get he a new coffee. I sighed as I made my way to the bathroom as quickly as possible, hoping that lady wouldn't run into another poor soul, the door swung open as I made my way to the mirror, the coffee not coming off of my shirt. Shit, time to improvise I guess.
The door to the bathroom swung closed as I walked off, my shirt revealing more than I would like, I shrugged it off as I made my way to the tex-mex.
