It was a warm summer day in the outskirts of Sydney, Australia. Kell and Teagan relaxed on the beach that out looked the blue ocean full of swimmers, boaters, and surfers. The two sisters shared a smile as they relaxed together on the One Direction towel they brought.
Teagan was 17 and Kell was 18. The sisters shared a bond closer than most best friends do. They knew and shared everything, including their loves of One Direction.
Summer vacation had just started and the two sisters were not going to let it slip away like it had last year. They had woken up at 5 o clock that morning to pack a lunch and head to the beach for the sunrise. After watching a beautiful sunrise and Kell taking more pictures than Teagan had in the last year, they waded out to the ocean and lay down on their backs and looked up at the sky floating by. After awhile in the ocean, they both came back to the towel and that was where they were now, scooping up the sun's rays to perfect their tans. This was a regular occurrence between the girls in the summer because of all the tourists. There were always some cute guys around, and tans seemed to be some kind of magnets.
Teagan let her thoughts drift to far away places. In a few short months her sister would be gone. Gone to England to study. Teagan couldn't imagine life without her sister. Sure, she had friends, but none were as close as Kell. And Kell had always been there during the chemo, where as she just couldn't trust her mom, Violet any more. Whenever Violet would look at her daughter, she would breakdown into a pile of tears. Teagan could hardly bear it. After all, she was the one who had cancer, not her mother. And well...Teagan couldn't remember her father if she tried.
Kell was also in a land of her own. Her thoughts had drifted to her sister too. Sure, she was in remission, but what if the cancer came back? And while she was away in university? Kell immediately decided that this problem could be solved by a friend...or even better yet, a boyfriend! Now, that shouldn't be too hard since there were so many guys here on vacation.
Kell was snapped out of her thoughts, when Teagan announced that she was gonna make a quick trip to the bathroom.
As Teagan walked off, Kell sat up and watched her sister get smaller. She already hated that small distance between them and was wondering if going to England would be smart. She needed to be there for her sister.
When Teagan reapproached, the two girls slipped into the water again, this time both holding surf boards. They couldn't remember a time when they couldn't surf, because it was taught along with walking almost. They caught a few lazy waves then decided to head back home for the day. As they walked back over to where their towel was, they heard a commotion. Screaming and the words "Oh my gosh!" were heard above anything else. There was even a girl passed out on the sand. Not wanting to get in the conflict, the two girls skirted past. But curiousity got the better of Teagan, and she wandered over cautiously.
Teagan's eyes widened and Kell had the strong urge to run. Teagan's eyes only got that big if she was either shocked or alarmed about something. But Teagan wasn't leaving the scene, so Kell decided to observe. Kell instinctively rushed over when she noticed Teagan had sat down on the sand and started to cry helplessly, but stopped short when she saw the back of an unfamiliar guy kneeling beside her and whisper into her ear. Kell's guard instantly went up.
When the man turned, Kell almost fainted. Teagan was being led over to Kell none other than Louis Tomlinson! Kell quickly balled up the towel in embarrassment. She wouldn't want Louis to think she was a super fan. That kind that stalked him till they knew more about him, than he did himself.
When Teagan was safely in Kell's arms, Louis told her that at the sight, she had started crying but it wasn't the normal crying he was used to. This one was more of relief and sadness and pain all tumbled together. When she had fallen in the sand because she was crying so hard, this worried Louis and he had come over. Teagan wouldn't say anything except thank-you, over and over again, and so Louis, not knowing what to do helplessly led her to her sister.
"Is she going to be alright?" Louis asked, his sharp British accent evident.
"Eventually." Kell replied.
Just then a startled looking Liam came over. He asked Louis where he had gone because he was expecting him in the water 15 minutes ago. After explaining the situation to Liam, his eyes filled with genuine concern. Meanwhile, Teagan had moped over to the Jeep where she was watching from a distance. Liam was still worried and wanted to help, so after counselling with Louis, they decided to leave the beach and find out what was going on. This girl wasn't crying over pure happiness of seeing them, although they could sense it was a part of it. Plus, it wasn't exactly very fun to surf when a throng of teenage girls were chasing after you. So Liam and Louis decided to call it quits and head back.
"I'm genuinely worried for... Oh she never told me her name!" Said Liam.
"Her name is Teagan, and I'm Kell."
"Nice to meet you both!" Louis answered for Liam.
"We have decided that we want to learn more about Teagan because we could sense that she is a fan, yet has something troubling her." Liam stated.
"Yeah." Was all that Kell could answer.
After all, Teagan would open up when she was ready. As the 3 climbed the gentle incline towards the car park, Louis pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to the rest of the lads that there was a major change of plans and to phone as soon as possible.
Harry was the first to reply. He phoned and asked what was up. Louis explained and Harry's voice also showed concern but he was unavailable. He was preparing for an interview with Zayn and Niall. Then they all had a photo shoot to attend, including Louis and Liam. Niall and Zayn followed suit and phoned and the situation was quickly explained.
As Louis got into the vehicle they had brought, Kell stepped into hers. Teagan was sitting looking out the window and so Kell kept quiet and let Teagan keep her thoughts to herself. The Jeep revved up and the girls drove back home with Louis and Liam not far behind.
The vehicles pulled into the driveway and all four people exited at nearly the same time. Liam put a protective arm around Teagan. Kell unlocked the door and Teagan rushed past, inside and up to her bedroom.
After about 45 mins of idle chitchat between Liam, Louis and Kell, Teagan came down with a tear stained, blotchy face.
"Kell, can I talk to you?" Teagan asked.
"Sure." Kell replied.
"Okay, Teagan. What's up? Normally I understand you but I don't get it this time. Why are you crying? I mean yeah, you were talking to Louis and Liam from the One Direction, but you seem kind of upset."
"Well... I don't know. It's just seeing Louis and Liam brought back memories from cancer and how I listened to them as therapy. It was like they were there for me when mom wasn't. But you were my primary support and I'm so thankful for you!"
" No problem. I love you Teagan."
But what Teagan didn't tell Kell was at her doctors appointment last week the news hadn't been good. The cancer was back. That was what she was crying about. Seeing Louis and Liam made her think of her cancer and listening to them, and how she was going to have to do it all over again. She hadn't told her sister or mother that the news was bad, but instead smoothly lied about it.
Kell took the crying to be some hormonal thing and nothing else.
Kell and Teagan went back over to the boys and they made more chit chat and found out more about each other.
Soon though, Louis got an angry text from Zayn, telling them to hurry up because they were late for the photoshoot!
So reluctantly Liam and Louis got up and after giving out warm hugs, they disappeared through the front door.
A few days later the phone rang and Violet picked it up. It was one of her rare days off and she was home trying to spend time with the girls, but as usual Teagan was avoiding her at all costs and Kell was out shopping.
"Hello?" Violet answered.
"Hi, may I please speak with Teagan?" said the voice in the other end of the line. Violet noticed the accent was not like her own.
"May I ask who is calling?"
"Its Liam Payne here. Is this Teagan's mother?"
"Why yes it is! How would you know my Teagan?"
"We met at the beach a few days ago."
"Alright. She's in her room. One moment please."
"Thanks so much."
Violet climbed the steps and knocked softly on her daughters door.
"Teagan, phone for you."
Teagan took the phone from her mother without a word and signalled for her mom to leave.
"Hello, Teagan speaking."
"Hi Teagan it's Liam. You alright?"
"Fine thanks. What can I do for you?"
"The rest of the boys would like to meet you if that's alright."
So he must have told them about her...
"I'd love to meet them too, Liam! When works for you guys?"
"What about tomorrow?"
"Sounds good! See you then!"
"Cheers!"
Teagan leapt down the stairs full of excitement. This time she wouldn't break down.
"What was the one and only Liam Payne doing calling you?" Violet asked.
"Nothing mom. All the lads are coming over tomorrow."
"Well, I'm not going to be home. Can you and your sister manage them?"
Teagan answered with a quick nod of her head and darted back up to her room and sent a text to Kell saying all of One Direction was coming over tomorrow!
That night Teagan couldn't sleep. She was excited to meet the rest of the boys. Kell was excited too, but she had fallen into a peaceful sleep earlier.
Teagan's thoughts drifted. She thought about how much of an effort her mother was making to be friendly with her. She thought about Kell and how knowing that her sister's cancer had come back, would change her plans in an instant and she would go to a community college here instead. Teagan didn't want that. She knew how much her sister wanted to go to that prestigious school and declining the invitation would crush her inside. Many thoughts tumbled around in her head before she was drowsy enough to slip into oblivion.
Morning came and Kell and Teagan were up doing last minute tidying jobs in rooms around the house. The door bell rang and Kell rushed to open the
door. Teagan followed closely behind.
All five boys were standing at the door. Teagan couldn't contain her excitement! After warm greetings were had by all, Kell led the boys on a tour of her house. Teagan trailed along at the end and Harry stood beside her, asking her questions about herself which she vaguely answered. She wasn't going to reveal too much. She didn't want some world famous superstar knowing what was going on in her life, especially since she hadn't even told her own family.
After a lengthy, boring tour of the house, they all sat down in the living room. There weren't even enough seats so Teagan volunteered to sit on the floor. Harry quickly joined.
"So what shall we do?" Teagan inquired.
"What about we start with Would You Rather?" Kell answered, then looked around the room for approval.
All the boys seemed to think the idea was fine, and since they couldn't think of anything else, they agreed. The game lasted for about 45 minutes and many questions were asked. Some serious and some silly. Louis was the main provider of the silly ones. Harry kept asking Teagan which made her slightly uncomfortable.
After the game, the girls ordered pizza. But Teagan had no appetite. Too much was on her mind, so she finally just excused herself and went upstairs to find peace. How much longer could she keep this from Kell? Chemo would be starting up soon and if Teagan hadn't told her beforehand she would be hurt. She willed herself to tell Kell tonight.
Meanwhile, downstairs the pizza was being enjoyed by all. Conversation was slow until Kell absentmindedly brought up Teagan. Harry inquired where she was and why she had excused herself so quickly. After all, on the beach she had started crying. Kell knew something he didn't, and he wanted to find out. But neither sister had made a move to tell him...
"Do you think she would mind if I went up to see what's wrong?" Harry asked.
"Let me check. I'll go upstairs and ask. I'll be back." Kell stated, and in a flash was gone up to her sisters room. To her surprise she wasn't in there. She found the bathroom door to be locked, though.
"Teagan? You alright? Harry wants to talk to you."
"Be right out. And tell Harry to come up."
"Ok. You sure you're alright? You've been upstairs an awfully long time."
"I'm fine. Promise."
But Teagan wasn't fine. Behind that bathroom door, things weren't fine at all. In reality, Teagan had been puking her guts out. Cancer had a way of doing that. Working its way into your system and making you're own body rebel against you. It didn't help that she had so much on her mind. She couldn't hide from her sister forever. And what about her mother? Telling her screamed depression.
After a quick rinse of her mouth, Teagan darted back to her room. And in the nick of time too, because shortly thereafter Harry was knocking on her door.
"Come in."
The door opened a crack and Harry peeked his head in, and when he didn't see or hear any objections, he stepped in.
"You alright? You're missing some good pizza down there." Harry asked calmly.
"I'm fine. Just wasn't hungry I guess..." Teagan answered shakily.
"Well, why have you locked yourself up here?"
"I'm not sure. Tired I suppose."
"You sure? You're pale."
"Oh. Yeah. I'm not feeling so great."
Something was definitely wrong, Harry could sense it. In the midst of it, Harry also noticed how pretty she was. He had to admit, at least to himself, that he was falling for her.
Harry thought that she maybe wanted to be left alone, especially if she was ill.
"You want me to leave?" Harry asked, hoping the answer would be no, but assuming it would be yes.
"No, you can stay of you want to."
"I'd love to, but if you want to rest, I'll leave."
"No, really it's fine."
Harry was so cute, Teagan thought. He was definitely her favorite. And he had such impeccable manners too. He was so perfect. But no! She could not let herself fall for him. After all, he was probably just being polite. And he was famous. He had to be polite or management wouldn't be happy. He was just so used to looking good for the world, that this had become the normal way he acted. At least that's what Teagan figured.
Harry figured he should leave. She probably wanted to sleep. After all, she was probably just being polite. Harry was so used of girls treating him like that. Being so smooth and treating him like a god.
Harry trudged down the stairs, to find Kell and the rest of the boys playing Truth or Dare. He joined in, and demanded himself to push Teagan from his mind.
When the game was finished, the boys decided they should go. They didn't want to impose, especially since Teagan was sick. But they were going back on tour in 3 days, and this was the last time the newly founded friends would see each other in awhile. They exchanged phone numbers and promised to keep in touch.
After the boys had left, Teagan called her sister up to her room.
"Kell, I really need to talk to you."
"Sure! What's up?"
"Kell, it's back. The cancers back."
Shock registered on Kell's face. Horror, sadness, pain, grief, and anger all swirled in her emotions.
"Why didn't you tell me before?"
"I didn't want to ruin your summer." Teagan replied, drawing in, then exhaling a large breath.
Tears sprang to Teagan's eyes. Kell looked at her sister and wrapped her in a warm hug.
"What about your school, Kell?
"Shhhh, don't worry. We'll figure something out." Kell whispered into her sister's ear.
"Have you told mom yet?" Kell wondered aloud.
"No. I can't bear it. She's just gonna break down all the time, and I hate it so much!"
"Well would you like me to tell her for you then?" Kell offered.
"No, I got it, thanks. I'm gonna do it right now. But I need you here for support."
"I'll always be there for you, Teagan."
Teagan and Kell walked down the stairs. With each step nearing her mother, Teagan could feel her feet getting heavier, willing her to stay upstairs.
"Go! Get this over with!" Teagan screamed at herself in her head.
The two girls stood in the living room in front of their mother, who was absentmindedly reading the newspaper. She looked so peaceful, and Teagan thought that within the next five minutes her mother would be in tears, mascara running down her face. But she had to do it. She couldn't just go out once every other week, at the same time each time, without her mother suspecting something. And it would be worse if she waited to tell her.
"Mom...the cancer is back." Was all that Teagan said. No gentle way to ease her into it. Just simply the fact that it was back.
"Pardon me? Did I just hear you right?" Her mothers eyes were so wide, Kell was afraid that they would tumble out onto the floor!
"Yes mom."
"No! That's not possible! It can't be!" Her mother was in a state of denial.
"Yep. I'm starting chemo in two weeks. Thought you should know."
And with that, Teagan left the room, without so much as a glance back. Kell followed behind like a shadow. From downstairs they could hear the loud sobs emitting from their mother. Soon, Teagan broke down too.
"I ruined your summer Kell! And schooling! All your hopes and dreams! And I ruined everything!" Teagan burst out. So much was weighing on her and she had to let it out.
"No you didn't, Teagan. You didn't ruin anything for me."
"Don't lie to me!" Teagan screamed.
"I'm not. We will get through this together. I fight the battles you fight. I'm here for you. Plus this gives me something to do with my summer, instead of just moping around."
"Stop being so freaking optimistic! I ruined it! And I'm gonna die! You don't even know what it's like, Kell! You have no idea the pain I go through! How can you even say that we fight the same battles? You don't even know a freaking thing, Kell!"
And with that, Teagan was gone. Out the front door, and into the Jeep to some place where she could sort out her thoughts. Her face was red with rage and she needed to cool down. Did she really just say all that stuff to her sister? Her best friend? The one she trusted most?
Meanwhile, back home, Kell was a mess. Tears were streaming down her face in waterfalls. How dare her Teagan say that to her! She had always been there to lean on and this was what she was repaid with? Kell could imagine Teagan saying all that crap to her mother, but not her. And where did Teagan tear off to anyways?
Teagan arrived at the beach with nothing. Not even a towel to lay on.
"Well, screw it." She thought and lay down right on the sand and gazed up at the setting sky. She really did need to go apologize to her sister, but she couldn't bear the thought of going home tonight. So instead she just lay there, cooling off, and sorting out her thoughts.
She sat up and noticed a guy staring intently at her. He was cute too. Wavy blonde hair bleached by the sun, and a surprised smile with slightly crooked teeth peeking through.
"May I help you with something?" She asked politely.
"No. Well...sorry to stare but...ummm...you seem really upset...so ummm yeah..." The boy stammered. He was blushing beet red, and Teagan thought it was cute.
"Lots on my mind." Typical response. A good way to not open up, but not deny that she wasn't fine either.
"Well, sorry to hear that. By the way, the names Cade. But people call me Fin."
"I'm Teagan. Nice to meet you."
The two sat and talked on the beach until way after the sun was down. Cade explained why he was called Fin. It was because he was always in the water and loved to swim. Every spare moment of every day was spent in the water. Everyone joked that he should have been born a fish. However, Teagan didn't open up much. She just mentioned that she had cancer and didn't go into detail, but Fin didn't seem shocked or taken aback by it.
"My dad had cancer." He seemed so calm and relaxed, and Teagan couldn't help but notice that he had calmed her down. The conversation went on to well past midnight, and by that time they were the only ones on the beach, lit by the light of the moon.
The two exchanged numbers, and reluctantly went their own separate ways home. Teagan felt so at peace when she was with him. He was just so relaxed and easy going, and had a way of calming her down.
When she arrived home, it was after 1 o clock in the morning, so she slipped upstairs, careful to avoid the creaky spots. Being careful not to make a racket, she opened her bedroom door and gracefully slipped into bed.
Morning came, and when Teagan had come to her complete senses, she remembered what she had said to her sister. Realizing it was already half past 11, she darted down the stairs to apologize to her sister. Sooner the better she figured. Plus, knowing that they weren't on good terms with each other wasn't a nice feeling.
"Hey Kell. How are you?" Teagan asked boldly.
"Why should you even care?" Kell answered harshly.
Ouch that one stung...
"I do care, Kell, and I'm beyond sorry about what happened between us last night. We normally never fight but I've just been so overwhelmed lately. I'm sorry. Normally I blow this crap on mom but spazzing at her right after I told her, didn't seem right..."
"It's fine, Teagan. I'm sorry too. I just feel the need to apologize."
The two sisters hugged. Kell was so glad they had made up. Her best friend was back.
"So where'd you storm off to last night?"
"The beach. Where else? I met this awesome local guy called Fin. He really calmed me down. And I got his number!" Teagan squealed.
"Oh that's awesome! I gotta meet him soon!"
"I'm gonna go phone him and see if we can meet up. You can come and meet him."
"Sounds like a plan!"
So, Teagan reached for the phone and dialed the number. Fin himself picked up.
"Hey, Teagan! How do you feel today?" Fin inquired.
"I'm okay. You wanna meet up? You free now?" Teagan replied.
"Yeah I'm free. Just thinking about heading down to the beach to swim. Shall we meet there?"
"Sure! Can my sister come?"
"Yep! See you soon!"
The conversation ended and Teagan announced to Kell to go pack her swimsuit.
After the bags were packed, the girls hopped into the Jeep and made the quick trip to the beach. They found Fin waiting. Teagan made beeline for him, while leaving Kell behind to gets the bags. The two embraced in a warm, lingering hug.
"Kell, this is Fin. Fin, this is Kell." Teagan announced.
"Pleased to meet you." Fin replied formally.
After the three had been introduced, they spent some time on the beach getting to know each other. Finally, Fin announced they should go for a swim. The two girls darted to the girls change room and Fin headed for the mens. Kell and Fin emerged at nearly the same time, but Teagan suddenly wasn't feeling well and was taking it slow. She emerged in her clothes.
"Teagan, why are you wearing clothes, babe?" Fin questioned.
He called her babe!
"I don't feel so well. Can I watch you guys from the sand?" Teagan replied tentatively.
"Sure, hon. You gonna be okay?"
"We'll see."
Well it was obvious that Fin liked her as much as she liked him. But she couldn't fall for him. She was just going to get attached, and she had enough on her plate. A boyfriend wouldn't help. It would just be a distraction from getting better.
However Kell had different ideas. Since it was so obvious that Fin and Teagan liked each other setting them up shouldn't be hard.
Kell and Fin waded out to the water, while Teagan stayed behind to watch. Why did she have to be sick? Why her? Why couldn't she live a normal life and not worry about so much stuff? Why couldn't she just date someone without any added worries?
Soon Fin and Kell came back.
Fin claimed that seeing her on the beach by herself broke his heart and he had to come back in.
"Aww, that's sweet but don't let me stop you from swimming, Fin. I don't mind watching." Teagan replied.
"No, babe. I like it here with you." Fin smiled and Teagan felt weak at the knees.
"Well then...I'm gonna take this as a cue to leave, so you guys can do some making out here." Kell said coolly, while winking with her sister.
"Oh shut up! We're just friends!" Teagan muttered.
After being sure that Fin would drive Teagan home, Kell hopped into the Jeep and drove away.
Kell thought that things were working out wonderfully, and that now Teagan had a boyfriend it would be easier for her to go to university in England.
Meanwhile, at the beach, Teagan was explaining how the cancer had come back. Fin looked at her with sad eyes.
"My dad had brain cancer. He passed last year." Fin explained. His voice maintained composure but the look in his eyes suggested how fresh and vivid it still was in his mind.
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that." Teagan replied.
"That's ok. Now I have you instead."
"Finnnnnn, stopppp."
"Come here, baby."
Teagan scooted closer and lay her head in his lap. It felt so incredibly nice. Fin stroked her hair soothingly. Teagan's eyes teared up at that gesture. Soon, she wouldn't have any hair left.
"What's wrong, beautiful?" Fin questioned.
"All my hair will be gone in a few weeks. I know guys probably don't care as much but to me it means so much. And it already had to grow back once."
"Awwww that must be hard. But you will be beautiful. Always. No matter if you have hair or not." Fin assured her.
Teagan let it go at that. Silence followed but never once did Fin stop stroking her hair. Finally the silence broke with Fin's voice.
"Teagan, would you like to go on an official date with me? You make me very happy."
"I...uhhh...I...I...can't...I mean...I'm...I don't know." Teagan sputtered out.
"Take as much time as you need to decide."
Fin was being very patient with her. Teagan viewed every aspect, weighed the pros and cons and finally came to her decision.
"Alrighty, Fin. Sure. And you make me happy too."
Fin was delighted. Teagan seemed unsure that she had made the right decision but decided to be content at the moment. The two talked the rest of the afternoon, with Fin never ever letting his hands leave Teagan's hair. As evening approached, Teagan felt a buzz in her pocket. Her phone. Figuring it was her sister or mom telling her to come home she slipped it out to send a quick reply saying she'd be home soon. But it wasn't. Teagan didn't recognize the number. Curiously she opened to the text. It read: Hey love, it's Harry here. I hope you're feeling better. Miss you. <3.
Teagan wasn't sure what she felt about that. And she noticed a little too late that Fin had been reading it as well. Carefully he lifted her head off his lap and stared at her. When Teagan looked up she noticed that his eyes were hard.
"Care to explain why you got a text from some guy named Harry that had a heart after it?"
He stood up to leave.
"Fin relax. First of all it's Harry Styles, that guy from that boy band, One Direction. We met awhile back. Second of all I have no idea why there is a heart in it. We only met once, and I was sick so there was nothing between us at all. And third, I don't even know why he's texting me in the first place. I mean he is only 1/5 of the most famous band on the planet right now. I mean he could text anybody he wanted probably, like Katy Perry for crying out loud!"
"Ok ok. Well then he must really like you! Too bad you are already taken!" Fin joked, clearly relieved.
"Yup. Except I don't really know how to reply. But I don't wanna be rude. And like how often do I get to talk to Harry Styles anyways?" Teagan pondered, hoping for help.
"Be honest. That's my only advice."
"Ok."
Teagan replied: Hey Harry! I hope your tour is going well. I'm doing alright. Hope to see you again too. :)"
Nervously she hit send. Harry still didn't know she had cancer. Fin began to talk again but Teagan was confused and wanted to sort out her thoughts. Had she made the right decision in saying yes to Fin?
"Fin, I don't feel good. Can you take me home?" That wasn't entirely true because today she actually felt not bad. But she just needed some time and she wanted to talk to Kell and sort this whole mess out.
"Ok let's go." Fin was disappointed.
Together, holding hands they walked towards Fin's truck.
When they arrived home once again, Fin jumped out and opened the passenger door for Teagan. After sharing a quick kiss Teagan let herself in. Her mom was standing in the kitchen with a cheese grater beside her and her head in her hands. Clearly and visibly crying. Hoping it would get her mind off things, Teagan volunteered to help.
"Need any help?"
"Oh no honey. Go get some rest." Violet said through tear stained eyes.
"Oh my gosh mom. I feel fine, ok? Or do you not want me here? Is it too hard to see me? Well what about in two weeks?? When I have no hair? I am going to die and you are not going to even let me make a freaking salad. So much for normal around here."
Teagan stomped up the stairs and crashed into Kell who was just on her way down to see what the commotion was all about.
"What was that about? Are you ok Teagan?" Kell asked.
"Mom."
"Forget about her. She needs help." Kell rolled her eyes at the thought of her mother. She was so sick of her. Why couldn't she be stronger for Teagan?
"Yeah, enough about mom. Can I talk to you about something else? Teagan looked into Kell's eyes begging for help and advice. Kell pulled her into her room.
"Ok shoot. What do need sissy??" Kell smiled.
"Well........um.....I need advice. I'm confused."
"Oh my gosh Teagan stop leaving me in suspense and tell me already."
"Ok well um.... FinaskedmetobehisgirlfriendandisaidyesandthenHarrytextedmeandtherewasaheartinthetextandIloveHarrybutilikeFintoo." Teagan blabbered all in one breath.
"Ok slow down. I understood 0% of that."
Teagan took a deep breath and repeated.
Kell's eyes glistened.
"You have a boyfriend????"
"Yeah...but I need your help. What about Harry?"
"I'm pretty sure the heart didn't mean anything. Like, isn't he known as the flirt of the group? I wouldn't make a big deal about it, Teagan."
"Ok, yeah I guess. Thanks Kell. You always know best."
Kell smiled.
"Have you thought about university, Kell? You are going to Durham still, am I correct?"
"Of course..I think. We'll see how you are."
"No. Absolutely not. This is not about me. This is about you. Don't let me stop you, Kell. I can manage. Have faith in me. Ok?"
"Well I can't just leave you with mom now can I?"
"Kell, get realistic here. I already survived once."
"Um excuse me but I was here, remember?"
"Well you were the one that was adamant I found a boyfriend so you could take off!"
Things were getting heated. Kell looked at her with hard eyes and Teagan glared right back. Hard.
"That is not true at all! I just wanted you to be happy." Guilt emerged on Kell's face.
"Yeah, cause cancer is the best thing ever and I am going to be jumping for joy when chemo starts again. Uh huh. Sureeee."
"This conversation is done. But you don't know yet and neither do I. Don't press me. The summer just began so let me think. Don't forget I love you." Kell stated and walked away leaving Teagan to ponder.
