A few stomps were audible from upstairs. I just assumed Dallas was trying to get ready.

"So Jenn, how you been?" Buck finished wiping the counters, finally sitting down on the other side of the counter.

"I've been alright. Fine as I could be." I smiled lightly before a tired Dal trudged down the flight of stairs. He groaned before placing his head on my shoulder and digging into my neck. I giggled slightly, and ruffled his hair.

"Mornin' sleeping beauty." I laughed and kissed his forehead. He only groaned in response. He sat down and laid his head on his palm. He was never really a morning person.

"Hey Dal, I was thinking maybe we could hit the Curtis house later and just hang out for a bit." I looked at him, only to get a yawn from him.

"I dunno....I feel like it's gonna get awkward." He replied, rubbing his eyes and sniffling.

"Well we can't just leave 'em hanging." He rolled his eyes and sighed.

"Are you sure it's them you're really concerned about? Or is it the fact that you don't wanna be alone with me?" Buck walked away to give us some privacy. Smart man.

"Dal, all I've been wanting was alone time with you, but the rest of the gang is still a priority. It can't just be me and you." He sneered at my argument and snapped a cold glare at me.

"If you wanna go, fine. But I ain't."

"Why not?! What about Johnny, Dal? Y'all are like brothers!" He slammed his fist on the counter and huffed.

"Because I just ain't! Leave it alone Walker." I scoffed and pushed my way through him.

"We're over, Dallas. I ain't putting up with you no more." He turned around almost straight faced and grinned a bit.

"You don't mean that, and you know you don't. It'll only take a few days for you to miss me, then come running back. I got you wrapped up just like that." I clenched my jaw and grinned.

"You think you know me so well. Well guess what? I'm done." I slammed the front door shut and started walking to the Curtis home.

It was a bit of a relief to not have to worry about Dal. I guess I put that priority on myself, he never cared if anyone was worried about him.

And he never would. People like him don't change.
