Battle

Some minutes before Hange and the rest were let out of their cell by Gabby and Falco Ari was out for his walk. At the moment he was wearing an unmarked cloak so he would not get swarmed by people since he was effectively a celebrity since Liberio. He took a look around the place, he had such fond and conflicting memories about Shiganshina. On one hand, this is where he grew up, and met some of his best friends, his home was here, and he used to fly around on the rooftops and play there. On the other hand, this is where a lot of ghosts that he knew were, his dad, Carla, Erwin, and all the other Scouts that died here, strangers he knew the faces and names of when the wall first came down, and so much more.

Eventually found his way to where his old family house used to be. He looked upon it and smiled when he saw that the house was now inhabited by a small family. Ari chuckled at the thought of them finding one of the books he might have accidentally left behind. After that, he moved on and went to where Eren's home used to be. It was no longer there, it had been totally crushed when the wall first came down. In its place was now a small medical clinic. As Ari enjoyed his little bit of nostalgia though he couldn't help but think about everything, mostly his friends.

Ari's thoughts: They are gonna be so pissed at me when this whole thing is over. After they've learned that it's all been me...I'm gonna get my ass beat. But it will all be worth it after I've secured a better future, and they will all be safe. I will have upheld my vow to keep everyone close to me safe. Then finally I'll know some peace and I'll get to give all the rest of my time to Historia and our children.

BOOM!

Ari was snapped back to reality by the sound of a titan transforming. He rushed over and rounded a corner and saw the Cart Titan crush an entire section of the Garrison HQ.

Ari's thoughts: Shit! Pieck what are you doing here!!??

Just then Ari heard the sound of aircraft engines beginning to roar above him when he looked up he saw 5 Marlyen blimps flying in formation as soldiers began to jump out with parachutes.

Ari's thoughts: Dammit! They got here quicker than I thought!

Ari started running to the HQ as there was another explosion and flash of yellow lightning. Eren transformed and stared at the Cart with daggers and murder in its eyes. Eren tried to grab the Cart but it managed to use its small size to squirm away and leapt across rooftops to get to the quickly forming Marlyen line. Ari then spotted out of the sky one particular Marlyen soldier landing on the main road right in front of the outer gate. This soldier was blonde, and had on a red armband, it was Reiner. Seeing him, Ari changed where he was running immediately.

Seeing this Ari rushed over as Reiner transformed and landed hard on the ground to the point where the main road shook under the weight as the Armored looked upon the city. This was now the third time Reiner had been in Shiganshina and Ari was determined to make sure it was his last.

At the moment Reiner's attention was on the Attack titan starting to make his way over to him. But something that soon stole Reiner's attention was a man standing about 20 meters in front of him wearing a cloak. Most of the civilians were panicking at the moment and fleeing for safety. Especially when the Yeagerists moved out and clashed with the Marlyen soldiers.

The third battle of Shiganshina had now truly begun. Even despite this the person in the cloak standing in front of Reiner did not move. It was then that Ari removed the hood of his cloak and revealed himself in his human form to Reiner. Ari stared him down, this was not their first bow but both of them probably knew it would be their last.

Ari's thoughts: Reiner, you bastard, does it feel good to be back?

Reiner was shaken by seeing Ari, he even took a few steps back until his back hit the wall literally. That was until a soldier on a rooftop beside the armored yelled at him.
