A Departure warning

"I cant believe you left without telling me!"

Shift was scrubbing the soda off me as I sat in a big tub with a tanktop and shorts on.

"I'm sorry Shift but I needed to see Dark"

He grumbles under his breath in annoyance.

"If you ever do this again ill lock you up in this garage for a week"

I turn my head giving him my sad puppy dog eyes. He hesitates with a look of unsure.

"Come on Shift"

He shakes his head then puts his palm to it. "If I didnt have the same ability as you i'd probaly be following your every comand by now."

I turn and pout. Shift and Dark are the only ones that have ever seen me in a childish mood everyone else just thinks i'm a heart of stone.

"Hey Shift?"

"Yea what?"

"Are we alone?"

My brother stays quiet for a moment. I already know his answer but I want to here him say it.

"No Core we have each other"

I look at his eyes in surprise. That's not exactly what I expected from him.

"Core if anything would happen to me Dark would take care of you"

My eyes narrow at this in uncertainty. When ever Shift said something like this it means something would really happen.

"Id never let you be alone sis."

He pulls me into a hug. For once I actually hug back. What if this is the last time ill be able to hold my brother? My grip tightens on his shirt trying to pull him closer. Ill kill anyone who trys to take him away from me.

"Ahem im I interrupting a family moment?"

I jump away from my brother only to see Dark walk through the door. I jump out the tub my shorts heavy with the liquid. Grabbing a a towel from a stool I try to dry myself off.

"No its fine. You guys have fun i'm going to go change"

I walk off to the little bathroom were my clothes occupied one of the drawers. I dress quickly back into some black yoga pants and a black exercise T-shirt. I walk back into the garage were Dark and Shift are playing some kind of card game.

"Hey me and a couple of the other guys are going out for dinner do you guys want to come?"

I smile happily. I always love going out with all the guys. They always would look out for me even paying for my dinner. Hey we may be part of a gang but we still have manners. Shift seems to be unsure.

"I don't know Dark besides its Cores 16th birthday tonight"

My eye shoot open wide. I totally forgot! Dark smiles a handsome charming smile.

"That's exactly why we want to"

I pull on Shifts shirt like a kid.

"Please Shift it would be a great present!"

Dark smiles even bigger.

"So if were on the topic of presents I want to give you mine."

He pulls a small box out of his coat pocket. Its white with a pink ribbon tied around it.

"Here open it"

I take the box then carefully undo the ribbon and open it. Inside is a silver chained necklace with a black heart. I suck in a breath.

"Its so gorgeous!"

Dark helps me put it on as I still admine the sparkling gems in the heart.

"I picked it out an got a couple of the guys from the gym to help pay for it."

My smile is so wide its starting to hurt my cheeks. I grab Dark and hug him as hard as I can.

"Thank you!! Thank you so so so much!!"

"Its fine really im just glad you like it."

My brother sighs making me look at his eyes.

"If you want to go thats fine I have some stuff to do anyway"

I jump with joy making me miss the look of sadness flash in my brothers eyes.
