Maikko discovered the coin purse by accident. He was walking Monday morning at the university near the stage when his ballpoint pen fell. As it rolled away, he noticed the small, pink and circular coin purse few feet away from the place where the ballpoint pen landed. He picked the coin purse with intent look for a few minutes.  He began to open the purse and saw two twenty peso bill at 4 peso coins.  He picked his ballpen and walked towards the library when he felt a sudden tap behind his shoulders.

“Ohayo Gosaimasu!” Jonathan grinned while handing over his hands to his friend to make a shake.

Maikko startled and almost dropped the purse but returned to his pose after few moments. “You woke up late again. I told you not to read that Sherlock Holmes until Saturday! I thought you are saving money but you still bought two Bavarian donuts. You went washroom without washing your hands and you want me to shake your hand? Nice try.”

“How did you know??” Jonathan wondered. “There are still remains from the donuts. Judging from the color, you can definitely tell what kind you took. One donut is not enough for a man who skipped his breakfast that is why I assumed two.”

“How did you know I read Sherlock Holmes all night?”

“The reason why you’re hungry is you didn’t take your breakfast which is unnatural especially for you. You woke up late but why?  Reading Sherlock Holmes is the only thing that will make you awake until 2am in the morning. “

“Hah! What about the part I came to restroom?” asked Jonathan smiling.

Maikko looked at the sky. “Today’s weather is dry yet your shoe is wet. Where could have you been? Washroom’s floor is always mopped in the morning. I went there earlier and notice that there is no water in the faucet. Then, how can you wash your hand?”

Jonathan burst out in laughing. “I am glad my mother is not like you.” He said as he noticed the pink purse Maikko found earlier.

“Is that yours?” he asked. “That purse is cute.”

Slowly. Maikko zipped the purse as he handed it over to his friend. “What do you make of it?”  asked Maikko.

“Hmm..” As Jonathan looked the coin purse with great intent. He opened the purse and saw the same bills and coins Maikko also found.

“Well?”

“The owner values this purse so much. The owner knows to stitch well and probably left-handed. The owner is a woman that lives nearby the university.” Jonathan remarked.

“You are certainly joking huh?  Expound.” Maikko said as he dragged his friend to a seat near the chapel.

“It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important. -- according to Sherlock Holmes.” Jonathan said as he returned the bills and coins he examined. “Greatest secret lies in most little things.

He pointed to the stitch on the back of the purse. “Button-hole stitch scallop is one of the hardest kind of stitch. She began to stitch on the left and ended on right. How can I not say that she is not left-handed? In addition, this purse costs only twenty pesos. Why bother stitching?   This must have a great value to her. Maybe it’s a gift from important person.”

“I see. But I how come you know she lives nearby?”

“Forty four pesos is the total amount inside. I believe that the original amount carried is fifty peso bill later paid to a jeep driver and with students’ discount you will certainly get forty four. Jeep travels only short distances. She must live nearby.”

Jonathan returned the wallet to his friend. “What are planning about that?”

Well, we’ve got information to who the owner is. Thanks to your deduction. I think we should post on the freedom wall about this missing purse and wait for the owner to get it.
