"You've got to work harder than this", my boss said while putting my articles down on his table.
"I promise you I can do better than that", I said.
"You promise me a lot of things, you promised on your interview that you will work harder, you promised again when I didn't accept your article. And now your promising me this. I dont know what to believe anymore Ms. Sternfield. Your actions? Or your words".
"I know, but how can I work in here and give you a good story when the other officeworkers treat me like I'm they're slave. They kept ordering me things, they treat me like I'm dumb, that I cant make a good story. That I'm just a newbie"
"My job is not to protect the people in this company, but to push them in writing great stories and articles".
"But at least help them"
"I'm sorry Ms. Sternfield, I'm afraid that you are not able to give something to this company anymore. And I'm gonna have to fire you..."
"Please just give me another chance. I read this article that says a lot of authors try to travel around the world, or just in a specific place to find inspiration, that helps them make not just a good story but a great one. You gotta let me try that"
"Ok Ms. Sternfield, I'm gonna give you 8 months to write a great novel. Go wherever you want, get inspiration, or whatever and if I will like your story then you will have a chance to stay in this company. But.. if I would think that the story is not good enough, and you submitted it later than the deadline then you will have to leave this company".
"Thank you Sir", I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Remember, this is your only chance", he warned.
I just nodded and went out of his office. This is gonna be a hard task. But at least I have a chance right?..
